ladyfiona 2,577 Posted April 12, 2020 Been going through current and past members of House of Lords still alive. I did ask about last November but the question was ignored, so, you never know. (Although hopefully not, Prescott's one of the few politicians I outright liked.) As for age, I'd have trusted the wisdom of a nonagenarian Betty Boothroyd or the late Lord Carrington over pretty much all of the Cameron, May, Johnson and Corbyn front benches!

The family seat is about 4-5 miles from where I live (Fraserburgh was founded by her ancestors) but Flora herself is now retired somewhere in Deeside. Nothing to suggest she’s at death’s door; just suffering from the usually fragility of being 90.

British politicos tend to expire circa 92-97 no matter how robust they were before. Well, unless they are Ronald Atkins of course, who is probably more famous now for his age than anything he did or said in parliament!

As a matter of interest does anyone happen to know if there's a list of currently oldest living MPs anywhere?I drew up one of MPs over 90 a while back but it only got as far as Ben Ford who was no 29 on the list but is now the 7th oldest as most have died .Hugh Rossi was too young to be included !
