Did he not say obese celebrities are not allowed?

I've seen her in the flesh recently and she not chubby at all - shocker eh?

She must have lost weight then - what about Lisa Riley and Dawn French, did either of them ever lose weight?

Yes, both have lost a lot of weight of late, especially Lisa Riley..

Rick Wakeman would be a big shock to the music community - one of the unsung heroes

Unsung?

Well, he doesn't sing but everyone of a certain age knows who he is. Granted, when he goes the list of credits for songs he played on might take up the whole news programme, so there'd be a few surprises.

Is there an official list of all those that are regarded as a "national treasure'?

The Queen keeps one.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of when a female celebrity reaches a certain age, chat show hosts introduce them as "the lovely....."

"Ladies and gentlemen, the lovely Dame Judi Dench!" or "The lovely Thora Hird." that sort of thing.

So, how many years are we from the lovely Rosemary West?

She would be the "delightful".

I used to pay more attention to these things, but female guests on chat shows go from being introduced as "the stunning...." to "the delightful...." and then to "the lovely...." depending on their age.

Plenty people felt stunned in the presence of Rose West!

Lot of non-Brits being suggested here - surely they don't count as 'National Treasures'? Not ours, anyway.

An interesting point, mind, how many non-native incomers might be claim as national treasures once they have a British passport?

Mo Farah for one

Well, we tend to 'claim' them if they are hugely successful.

I mean, If Mo had finished last in the Olympics and was, generally, pretty shite, we would just be claiming that he was just another Somalian sponge cunt/terrorist/Pirate/roams London in a gang looking for aggro.

Lets wait and see if Mo really is Mr Super 'I nevah evah took performance enhancing drugs' Clean.

National treasure to pariah in a jiffy.....................
