Hall of Fame nominations overlap somewhat with Lifetime Achievement at the BRIT Awards in that the process of recognising greatness falls to industry insiders who tend to recognise a lot of greatness amongst those with lengthy careers and some serious doubts about their future bankability. Granted a few simply can't be denied but the handful of major artists - Beatles, Stones, Bowie - aside the timing often has something to do with the current state of a career. So - for example - The Eurythmics ill-fated comeback co-incided with a Lifetime Achievement Award and an album generally agreed to be very average.
