Doris Day, Pei and Wouk all gone this week, it's starting to pick up a bit now.

No idea why I. M. Pei wasn't on the main DeathList.

I think IM Pei is the only person we have ever been told by The Committee would never be on the DL proper.

I always felt like if Pei was born in 1907 and Niemeyer was born in 1917, Pei would be a DL hit and Niemeyer not. Pei blows a lot of those mid-aughts DL centenarian hits out of the water famewise (Clement Stone, Charles Lane, Stanley Kunitz) yet the committee has gotten a lot stubborner with centenarian debutants since then.

How come the Deathlist is not being updated to show the deaths of Hawke and Wouk?

If the main person who updates it is on holiday, isn't there someone else who can do it instead? Not only are Hawke and Wouk missing, but Doris Day still says "details to follow" and she died over a week ago.

Author Judith Kerr dies aged 95. RIP.

(Mentioned in the Authors thread but getting enough coverage to deserve to be posted in here as well.)

Could/would someone (hello committee!) please enlighten us devoted Deathlisters as to why (according to Deathlist 2019) Herman Wouk continues to live. Oversight? Or is there a deeper systemic problem, and Deathlist has itself passed over the great divide?

First mentioned as a possibility here in 2005: Walter Wolfgang, founder member of the CND, long-time left-wing activist and one of the old lads who got kicked out of the Labour party conference during the Iraq War days, dead at 95.
