These are some great suggestions, all of which I agree with. I would however like to re add Jiang Zemin to the discussion, as well as put Bobby Vinton into the deathlist radar. You guys already have Tony Bennet on there, why not give him some company.

Also, sup. First post since January 1, 2014, I don't think I've even logged in since then. But I've had the site in my bookmarks every year since and refresh at midnight on New Years. Long time follower but I guess a literal silent observer. It's basically my homepage lol.

John Harvey, author of the Charlie Resnick series of crime novels, is receiving radiotherapy for secondary bone cancer... that's pretty bad news, isn't it?

50 Names I Like For 2021

Rush Limbaugh--an obvious must

Floyd Little--Pro Football HOF'er in hospice care; may not even make it to 2021

Bob Dole

Larry King

Bob Newhart--face was extremely gaunt in TV interview last month

Ayatollah Khamenei--reports that he's gravely ill

Tommy Lasorda--cheated death with ICU stay recently, beloved Dodgers won 2020 World Series, seems like he's hanging by a thread

Yoko Ono--all the signs are there

Jimmy Carter--on borrowed time

Rosalynn Carter--the Carter daily double

Murray Walker

Prince Philip

Jerry Lee Lewis--looked frail enough in that video message posted last month that he's worthy of a spot

Carlos Menem--the 90-year-old was hospitalized 4 times this year and recently married his ex-wife

Paul Westphal--Basketball HOF'er diagnosed with a glioblastoma in Aug. 2020, is 69

Harry Belafonte

Betty White--I hate this, but the beloved star would be too big of a miss to not keep on the List

James Caan--until I see that he's NOT as gaunt as those wheelchair photos from earlier this year, I'm picking him

Bernie Madoff--attorney claimed the 82-year-old had 18 months to live in Feb. 2020, has kidney failure and other health issues

Shannen Doherty--could make '22 but is on borrowed time

Joanne Woodward

Linda Ronstadt--average lifespan with PSP is 7 years; Parkinson's diagnosis changed to PSP in Jan. 2013

John Madden--heard Al Michaels sending him a heartfelt message on a broadcast two weeks ago; just got the sense he could be in trouble

Bob Cousy

Pele

Tom Parker--might see '22, too big a miss to omit IMO

Sidney Poitier

Desmond Tutu

Pierre Cardin

Nichelle Nichols--she and Woodward both seem like they have end-stage dementia

Barbara Walters--deserves to return to the List

Ryan O'Neal--extremely frail

Teri Garr--believes MS symptoms began in 1982

Hal Holbrook

Cloris Leachman

George Shultz--just turned 100

Mikhail Gorbachev--definitely needs to return to the List

Leon Spinks

Superstar Billy Graham

Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff

Jake The Snake Roberts

Kamala (the former wrestler)

Samu

Necro Butcher

Ric Flair

Bob Barker

David Crosby--on borrowed time

Fay Vincent--former MLB commissioner wrote he was dying of leukemia in July 2019

Sandra Day O'Connor--90, withdrew from public life over 2 years ago due to dementia/Alzheimer's

Dick Cheney--think he has 2-3 years left, tops; maybe this is the year

Current DL'ers I'd Drop

Dick Van Dyke

Henry Kissinger

Emperor Akihito

Angela Lansbury

Alan Greenspan

Tony Bennett

Willie Nelson

David Attenborough

I know that some of my 50 names are probably not big enough for inclusion on the actual DeathList for 2021.  Other names I'm strongly considering:  Alberto Fujimori, Julian Assange, Tom Weiskopf, George Mitchell, Nick Bolletieri, Burt Bacharach, Louis Farrakhan, Lex Luger, Abdullah The Butcher, Sheldon Adelson, Mark Gastineau.

Now thats the kind of do good helpful posting we like from newcomers imo. :)

Onto the short list of 130 he goes. (It's short compared to the long list...)

I'm rarely surprised by omissions from DL because the Cmme are the Cmme and a law unto themselves, but if either Rush Limbaugh or James Whale miss out on DL2021 (not through dying this month) I will be genuinely gobsmacked because both are their type of picks to a T.

Ugh, he sure is.  Was looking at the wrong list; had updated one but not the other.  Thanks.

So now I need to put another name in.  I'll go with Weiskopf, for now.  If his pancreatic cancer is late-stage, he would be a strong pick.  Of course, that's what I thought Harry Reid had 2 years ago, and he's still with us.  Wonder if I should give Reid more consideration, actually.

As far as I can see it is only age which would justify the inclusion of DVD and Pierre Cardin. They have been active and neither has specific known health issues

My top choices for 2021 DL:

Rush Limbaugh (#1 draft pick)

Larry King (not doing well last I heard)

Bob Dole (on borrowed time)

Jimmy Carter (I think he'll be the "Big one" in 2021)

Bob Barker (on borrowed time)

Loretta Lynn

Robert Wagner

Julie Strain (she could live another year or two, but I think she's at her brave last years)

Billy Connolly

Harry Reid

Teri Garr

Dick Cheney (dunno why, but he's a major one for 2021)

David Crosby (any day now)

Shannen Doherty (she's struggling, could survive another year, but I think she's at her last legs, sadly)

Yoko Ono (she looks terrible)

Sidney Poitier

Julie Strain will probably get a QO,but I don't think she meets the fame threshold at all for 2021. Really the only DL picks less notable then her are Bill Gates dad,Ruby Mohammed and Fergie Fredriksen

I’m also looking at John Williams (88) who composed the Star Wars Theme Song.

Any reason for Wagner other than his age?

I must admit though, he instantly came to mind when I saw The Pink Panther Cast & Crew and Hollywood Possibilities threads had been updated. He’s a much better pick than other 1930 born American actor, Clint Eastwood.

Some top choices for 2021

Robert Fyfe (Turning 96 next year and was reported to have been battling bowel cancer)

Larry King (reportedly in ill health and has been hospitalised on numerous occasions)

Vanessa Redgrave (Just a feeling she’ll go at 84 and I’m surprised she outlived Diana Rigg)

Mikhail Gorbachev (looking frail and has been hospitalised in the past)

Linda Nolan, James Whale, Rush Limbaugh, Shannen Doherty, Tom Parker (Obvious picks)

Glynis Johns (Vote for Glynis, 97 is a dangerous age for anyone)

Pope Benedict (Was reported to be frail this year with shingles)

Yaphet Kotto (A strong hunch he’ll go at 81)

Carlos Menem (hospitalised in recent times)

Noam Chomsky (Looks as though his days are numbered)

Walter Mondale (Getting up there in age, surprised he has lasted this long)

Gerd Müller (suffering from advanced Alzheimer’s)

Kenneth Kaunda (96/97 are dangerous ages)

Sidney Poitier (approaching his mid nineties, supposedly frail)

Jean-Louis Trintignant (halted treatment for prostate cancer, lost will to live)

Alain Delon (had a stroke in 2019, ready to die as long as his dog goes with him)

Trevor Peacock (Has been suffering from dementia for 11 years, announced as advanced dementia in 2017)

Kenneth Cope (COPD)

James Watson (old and frail)

Leonard Fenton and June Brown (well into their nineties, could go at any time)

Jiang Zemin (frail and turning 95 in 2021)

Joss Ackland (overweight, born in 1928)

Jerry Lee Lewis (suffered a stroke in 2019, doesn’t look well nowadays)

Barbara Walters, Bobby Charlton (dementia sufferers)

A few actors from A Bridge Too Far also deserve some consideration (Hardy Krüger, Ryan O’Neal, Robert Redford and James Caan). I think Hackman, Caine, Gould, Hopkins and Fox are safe for now though.

Order of urgency for the 32 of this year’s remainders to return to next years list

1. Prince Philip (it would be a real slap in the face if he was dropped and a miss)

2. Leslie Phillips (His time must be nearly up, how is this 96 year old still alive?)

3. Bob Dole (Turning 98 next year, frail these days, should not be dropped)

4. Henry Kissinger (Overweight, turning 98 like Dole in 2021, someone the DL must not miss)

5. Betty White (Ancient, no 98 year old should be dropped from the DL)

6. Jimmy Carter (Ancient, suffered from melanoma and had a few falls in the past)

7. Murray Walker (Ancient, could go at any time, cancer survivor)

8. Joanne Woodward (amazed she has got this far into 2020, her Alzheimer’s was said to have deteriorated, this year)

9. Angela Lansbury (too big to miss and is currently at the ripe old age of 95)

10. Pierre Cardin (active and healthy for his age, but see Betty White above)

11. Bob Barker (A DL blocker who has survived skin cancer, falls and backache, but will he see 2022?)

12. Jacques Delors (Frail, 95 years old and not very active these days)

13. Harry Belafonte  (93 years old, a cancer survivor and another too big to miss candidate)

14. Leon Spinks (One of the younger ones but I feel his days are numbered and he shouldn’t be dropped)

15. Prunella Scales (She’ll probably make 2022 but with her gradually declining Alzheimer’s, I’ll be surprised if she makes the age of 90)

16. Jean-Marie Le Pen (Think he’ll make 2022 but should be kept on, just in case)

17. Willie Nelson (Still more active than most of the other candidates but has still suffered breathing issues, surprised he has made it this far)

18. Imelda Marcos (Overweight and also frail, it would make no sense to drop her)

19. Tom Smith (could make 2022 but then again he might not)

20. Desmond Tutu (89 seems to be a cursed age for celebs these days and Tutu’s health must get worse sooner or later)

21. Abdelaziz Bouteflika (was described as being in a vegetative state earlier this year but he should see 2022)

22. Tony Bennett (Still in good form these days but I can understand if he reappears next year)

23. Alan Greenspan (see Tony Bennett above)

24. Dick Van Dyke (see Tony Bennett again)

25. Lester Piggott (has had a few health issues in the past)

26. David Crosby (under 80 and in no real danger)

27. Emperor Akihito (in no real health crisis)

28. David Attenborough (One of the healthiest 94 year olds out there but he’s still 94)

29. Dick Cheney (has had previous heart issues but could still be around for years)

30. John Edrich (this one can be dropped)

31. General Pervez (this one can be dropped)

32. Shane MacGowan (see him in another 20 years)

Regarding David Crosby, he's had multiple heart attacks, a liver transplant, and he has diabetes.  He abused drugs.  In 2019 he said he thought he'd have a heart attack within a couple of years, and this year he said he only has a few years left.  Now, perhaps he does, but he's no healthy 79-year-old.

He's also selling his music catalog, for whatever that's worth.  He says it's because he can't work and he has bills to pay.  Bob Dylan recently did the same.

I seem to recall that this cancer thing was an Internet hoax, started on Wiki or some forum.

Also, according to his son, he's about 8 years younger than the DOB passed around online for him. So might "only" be ~88 next year.

iirc when we looked this up (pre-covid?) the only birth certificates that fitted him were the mid-1930s. I meant to look further into it, but 2020 happened...
