Time it took to get to 5000 deaths. March 9th to march 13th = 3 days

Currently at 5071 deaths

My prediction 6000 dead by march 17th

March 9th to 13th is 4 days. No argument with that prediction.

And wtf is Johnson playing at...

The guy is nuts . He is basically saying sacrifice over a million people. Called it, it's economic eugenics kill of the old , disabled and those seen as a 'drain' on the system. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

I'm only counting full days Inbetween just for a more accurate reading.

There are so many issues with this plan. If the UK ends up taking over from Italy as the epidemic's epicentre (and the figures show we're only about 2 weeks behind them), healthcare as we know it will basically collapse. And, of course, we'll be a pariah state. But at least we'll know who to blame...

Football season suspended.

Could be a busy summer if games are being played.

Boris Johnson is rather bastard than nuts. He just assumes young people who can work will not die from it () and it will only kill weaker population which is a burden fror NHS. When UK will change its mind about this will be definitely too late. Good luck.

Doubt it.  By then civilisation as we know it will have collapsed, cannibalism will be rife and weird sects will be chanting in the hills :)

Doesn't help that the Euros are being held...all around Europe.

And they're always gobbing on the pitch. Even Prince Philip has been trained not to do that in public. Could change the face of football forever, this.

With the amount of sporting events being cancelled/rescheduled etc the BBC must be now going through their back catalogue to see what shows or movies they can air instead.

Newest victim - London Marathon.

5375 confirmed deaths now, with 250 confirmed deaths in Italy.

Seems pretty certain it'll be over 6000 before Monday, and pretty likely to be over 10000 by April.

Denmark closes it borders for a month and will guard it with military. We really do not want to end up like Italy.

0 deaths but 800 cases and lots of untested people (including my mom who has been sick with something that sounds like a flu but could be Covid-19).

Crazy times.

Lot of the sporting events cancelled wouldn't have been on BBC anyway. Pretty annoying that our first FA Cup Quarter Final since 2006 could now be delayed up to 6 months.

Having said that older voters are more likely to vote Tory.

I thought The Stand might make a good replacement for Match of the Day.

That is hysterical bollocks.

Healthcare 'as we know it' will not collapse into a fucking heap, stretched to the limit, yes, collapse, no.

Italy doesn't have enough ITU beds/respirators, hence more people are dying. We have enough.

The other factor, being trampled to death by mass hysteria, is that, because viral transmission is soaring in one country, it does not necessarily mean ditto elsewhere.

The Italians are very tactile people, they greet each other with kisses and handshakes, we, on the other hand, are miserable bastards that don't even know who they have been living next door to for the last 20 years...….

The spread in Italy may have been exacerbated by their culture rather than anything else.

People think we all need to live in a bubble, great, it passes you by but comes back again in months. Another 2 week shutdown? How many shut downs are we going to have?

Nobody really knows how to combat this, just because, elsewhere, they are shutting the stable doors long after the horse has fucked off doesn't mean that their way is going to solve it.

What's going to get cancelled next - Mothers Day

As it stands the world snooker championship is still going ahead, might be a good bet.

Speaking of which, what the hell are the bookies gonna do?
