Holy shit, I got scared for a second when I saw activity on a Shirley Bassey thread. Had no idea who she was until I watched the 2013 Oscars. At first I was like, wow, this lady has amazing presence and a great voice, especially for someone older. Then I saw exactly how old she was at the time, and to still be able to sing like that? Mariah Carey's voice basically left her at 35, and this woman is still belting it out in her 70's? I was blown away. Since then I've certainly familiarized myself with who she is. What a legendary performer. Don't you fucking dare fuck with Shirley Bassey, 2020!

Bit like when they rearranged the counties in the 1970s. Half of the Berkshire Downs (now called the, er, "North Wessex Downs") stolen from Berkshire, and what did they get in return? Slough.

Found 2 pictures of my great great grandmother (Edith Flowers - neé Summers - 1884 - 1969) in my uncle's attic. Edith's husband, James Flowers, was one of the people who created the General Workers Union - along with Labour politician Ernest Bevin.

That'll be the thorny bit in any future Scotland/England independence settlement, when the overall loser is forced to keep Newcastle.

Fair enough - though if you're really desperate to find someone it's useful to take what details you have and file a fraudulent benefits claim in their name. The sniffers they put on running that scum to ground can find anyone!

NOT DEAD DISCLAIMER The Sun decided to track down Willie Nelson in self-isolation for an interview and photo. Pretty much follows the news of most living picks on the list: he's staying indoors away from covid like a sensible 87 year old guy with health issues.

Oh aye, so now the same government has arranged their arrest. Actually - the BBC are reporting: "Beirutis have been unimpressed, seeing it as another attempt by the political elite to dodge the blame for disaster." Silver linings - maybe they'll storm to paralympic glory in a few years

There is a thread for scientists but speaking as a scientist Lovelock is one of the few who would be recognisable outside of the science field. James Watson is the other one and he actually looks worse than Lovelock atm.

Shirley Bassey is one of the living singer that I love the most and that I would be devastated to learn the death of (amongst Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Cher or Dolly Parton) as I was When Amy, Whitney, Donna Summer and Charles Aznavour did die (i cried in the subway when I learned Aznavour’s death)...

He's nearly 97 and he's still doing podcasts. The man is amazing. You can listen to him here. There's about 10 mins of discussion before they get to Walker, who sounds healthier than me, tbh. Talking a wee bit slower than his prime but quite clear and still as conversational in style as ever. He thinks Lewis Hamilton is on course to be the F1 greatest of all time, apparently...

Back at the time of his 93rd in March, Reptile was wondering if they'd get Harry Belafonte to talk about the event in his honour. They did but mostly kept the camera off him. Anyhow, I'm presumably not the only person to notice, in the last 5 months of Black Lives Matters and close friends of the singer dying, there's been sod all statements on either from him. Also his once highly active social media pages has completely ground to a halt. Just noting it.

So, some port officials responsible for storing that volatile shit in the same place for six years are under house arrest tonight. Which means, surely: 1 - They have houses that are still standing 2 - Their houses were a long way from the stuff they'd arranged to store in that warehouse.

Well I still think it was an ISIS dirty nuclear bomb and they're all covering it up .

I'd imagine it'll be a few thousand dead, not that I give a fuck. No doubt some will pretend to be devastated whilst really not giving a fuck as well.

Maybe a fireworks factory was caught up in the blast but it's too powerful to have started there. Many people tlaking of it being like a nuclear blast.Could nuclear material have been stored there?
