3 pointsI doubt it in terms of significance. He's only been Pope for 10 years, nowhere near the length of JPII, and he isn't as universally loved as the Queen was. Yes the media will cover it, but it will not be all encompassing like it was with the Queen, at least until we get to the conclave. That will be around the clock coverage...

1 pointBill Tidy, who was on Celebrity Squares is a mid table hit and my first hit on this pool: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/obituaries/2023/03/12/bill-tidy-cartoonist-who-won-cult-following-cloggies-fosdyke/ Edit: I'm having a look for panto appearances, must be one! 2nd Edit: Can't find one. Also, although he was inspired by the Garstang Morris Men for The Cloggies and they appeared on his This Is Your Life programme, I can't find him ever having participated!!! Though he did have them in for tea when they performed for him on his fiftieth. Ah well, I think he's a unique for me anyway, so some comfort.

1 pointMore avantgarde than prog really, but Tony Conrad, known for collaborations with Faust and John Cale, dies aged 76: http://buffalo.com/2016/04/09/news/art/tony-conrad-avant-garde-pioneer-ub-professor-dies-76/ In other news, John Wetton's latest CT scan reveals no change, now onto round 10 of chemo. Is this bad news for him? I don't know enough about the cancer process to be able to say, but it doesn't sound great...

1 pointListened to a quick sampling of their lyrical treasures. Have to say, I'm a fan of "311 Sucks". Seth's death will leaving a gaping chasm in the grindgore scene. He had a voice to sink a thousand ships. I'm currently listening to their inexplicably overlooked gem "I Ate Your Horse", a shocking omission from this thread. I Sent A Thank You Card To The Stroke That Killed You

Link And because of this small mention on the BBC rolling sports coverage - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport...one/8227401.stm - about Mark Webber wearing a black armband - he gets an obit valid for the DDP!!! Good stuff, but why couldn't Lewis bloody Hamilton wear one for Peter Arundell.....
