4 pointsJohnny Cash died on this day 20 years ago, aged 71. - Cash's birth name was the initials "JR"- his parents couldn't compromise on naming him "John" or "Ray" (considering the order, it seems that John won). Because he was unable to use initials in the military, he legally changed his name to "John R. Cash". - During his service, Cash was reportedly the first American to receive the news of Joseph Stalin's death (given to him via Morse code, likely from a mole in Russia). - During his career's high point in the '60s, Cash was addicted to amphetamines- a short time in jail got him sober, but he was reusing them by 1977, and completely dependent on them by 1989. - Cash was 1/4th Cherokee, and as such was an activist for Native American rights. He would be made an honorary member of the Seneca Tribe in 1968. - Cash made a few TV appearances- most notably on four episodes of Sesame Street, and as a talking coyote in Homer's hallucination in a 1997 episode of The Simpsons: - Late in his career, Cash would be known to cover songs (primarily from rock and grunge bands)- most notably his swan song, his cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt": - Cash would be diagnosed with multiple system atrophy in 1997, initially misdiagnosed as Parkinson's disease, and given 18 months to live. The following year, he came down with a severe case of pneumonia, and in 2000 would make his debut on the DeathList. Cash ended up dying from complications of his diabetes about four months after his wife June's death; he would be the 13th death of the (then-record-breaking) 2003 list (the last of four within a week).

2 pointsThe Apollo had a conveniently ignominious end - https://www.heraldscotland.com/life_style/arts_ents/23777143.bulldozers-fire-last-days-glasgow-apollo/ "On October 25, 1988, the derelict Apollo theatre on Renfield Street was devastated by fire. The alarm had been raised at 4am and fire crews from all over the city converged on the site. At the height of the fire, eight pumps, four turntable appliances and 60 firefighters were involved. "Eleven months before the blaze, in September 1987, bulldozers had demolished the front and rear of the building, leaving only the huge central portion intact, after building control inspectors had deemed parts of the Apollo to be unsafe. "At that time in September 1987, the building's owners, Ainsley Developments, were in receivership, and it was the Receiver who called in Burnthills Demolition. A few weeks prior to the demolition, city councillors had given planning permission to a London-based film and cinema company, Maybox, which wanted to build an £8.5m, 14-screen cinema on the site. Maybox had reportedly bought the property for £600,000."

1 pointFor a brief moment I was worried until I twigged 90s kids TV hero Uncle Jack wasn't an internet celebrity and would probably get referenced under his main job as the guy from Manfred Mann. Paul Jones, still with us .

1 point2018 meme Lil Tay, aka "the internet's youngest flexer", has been announced as dead (along with her brother) on her official Instagram page. Feels a bit like a hoax/prank to me, but the mainstream media is already writing about it so....

1 pointGot no video as proof yet because videos are like two weeks behind. He's only just uploaded them going back to Namibia to get visas. I've also seen on Twitter they are advertising for people to join the team remotely and on the ground for logistics and editors.

1 pointJose Luis Inciarte, one of the survivors of the 1972 plane crash of the rugby team in the Andes, who turned cannibal to survive, has died aged 75. He's the second of the 16 survivors to die following Javier Methol in 2015.

1 pointYep the presumable sudden availability of Sam Allardyce means a hit for both @RoverAndOut and our erstwhile gamerunner @Miracle Aligner putting them on 18 and 14 hits respectively. Last week Crewe parted company with David Artell, giving me a 16th hit. Scoreboard : RoverAndOut 18 BuffaloPhil 16 @Great Uncle Bulgaria 15 @msc 15 Miracle Aligner 14

1 pointWill be for my team. 3 of them (Blackburn, Rotherham and Maidstone) are chasing automatic promotion and all 3 are outperforming expectations as it stands, such that failure to go up would not bring the sack. Eastbourne and H & W have drifted from playoff places into mid table but both are still close enough to get back in the playoffs with a decent run. RAO is surely the favourite. Neither will be sacked, but can see both Bielsa and Dyche walking at the end of the season, both have performed miracles with poor squads but have taken their clubs as far as they can. Burnley will surely drop this year.

1 pointThat's genius, you've cracked it; we should try and curb the infection! Look, as a percentage, very, very, very few people in the world will get it. And very few of those who get it will die. And very few of those who die will have been otherwise healthy before they contracted the virus. This will all pass soon. The majority of people who've caught a touch of the Coronas have already recovered and are back at work, wondering what all the fuss is about. We know the score when it comes to reducing the risk of catching something contagious, much like when bird flu was rife we didn't need telling not to bowl about using dead pigeons as flannels. All we need telling is to stop panicking and have some common sense. Wash your hands, don't cough over everything like a scummy fucker and just go about your day, preferably without doing silly things like panic buying 240 loo rolls, french kissing infected people, predicting the world's going to end or reading The Sun. EDIT: Hello, this is TQR coming from almost three years in the future. Yeah, hi. I’m good thanks. Erm, so this post did not age terribly well. Eight weeks after posting this, I nearly died of “a touch of the Coronas”. The virus mutated horribly and many, many governments did not respond in time or to the degree that scientists urged them to. Matt Hancock, for one, let it into care homes and killed tens of thousands of nans and grandads. At least 6.7m people died globally, and they’re just the reported ones. To my credit, my opinion changed very quickly after this post. It was a weird time back then, and I suppose there was a modicum of not wanting to believe what this thing could mean. Believe it or not, some wacko cranks still think it’s a myth, and that vaccines which curbed serious cases and transmission rates (even where restrictions were dropped like no fucks were given) are some kind of NWO bollocks. Thankfully, normality has pretty much been restored in most parts of the world, though many remain scarred, bereaved and anxiety-riddled as a result. Our nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants etc are considered heroes by all but the most virulent and sociopathic of Tory supporting arseholes. Oh yeah, and speaking of them, they partied while you locked yourself away and missed your loved ones’ funerals. But you could’ve predicted that. Anyway, I digress; the point of this additional bit of info from the future is to mark what I said back then as utter drivel. It is an admission of almost total wrongness, and I apologise profusely for it.
