6 pointsQueen Elizabeth II died on this day 2 years ago, aged 96. Going to do something a bit different today... I'm going to take you back down memory lane by recapping her final week as recorded by the forum (time zones are EST). September 1, 2022: Joke made about the queen dying before Boris Johnson can turn his duties over to incoming PM Liz Truss. September 2, 2022: Confirmation that she would no longer attend the Braemar Highland Games (scheduled for the following day). September 3, 2022: Speculation made that she may stay at Balmoral Castle permanently- which she did. Somehow leads to a semantics argument on the spelling of 'toerag'. September 6, 2022: Meets with Liz Truss to confirm her as PM. Everyone instantly notices the odd coloration of her hands (in her last picture): September 7, 2022: Cancels a privy meeting due to exhaustion. Makes her final written statement issuing condolences for the victims of the mass stabbing in Saskachewan. Nobody seems to think she's imminently on the way out. September 8, 2022: - 7:35 AM: TQR makes the announcement about Buckingham Palace's statement about her health. TV coverage begins with the palace's official announcement. - 7:44 AM: Repost from then-Twitter noting that Nadhim Zahawi "urgently" briefing Liz Truss. - 7:51 AM: Announcement that Prince William is heading to Balmoral. People finally begin to recognize her incoming demise and post sweepstake dates. - 8:48 AM: Announcement that Princess Anne, Prince Edward and the Archbishop of Canterbury are heading to Balmoral. - 11:10 AM: Queen Elizabeth II's recorded time of death. - 11:31 AM: First death rumor posted by Sean 20 minutes after it actually happened (still not announced). - 11:47 AM: Announcement that ITV to suspend normal programming indefinitely at 5 PM BST. - 1:30 PM: Thatcher (obviously) breaks the official announcement of her death. The forum's loading times slow to a crawl due to all the incoming user traffic, but are mostly back to normal within a few hours.

1 pointThat's still significantly better than we had assumed or been told previously. It was previously noted that he was either almost nonverbal or completely nonverbal...

1 pointI'm glad you're here again, @John Key. You're the only reason I'm playing this pool. I really missed you. Thanks for your effort and your notable work, friend.

1 pointpolarduck and dimreaper are legends for keeping this tournament updated. I'm going to go and update the scoreboard / dead log immediately on the front page since I couldn't find any more names to add I usually disappear randomly in the middle of the year based on how busy I am, but am usually most active at the beginning and end. Their help has stopped people from wondering and posting if this tournament is dead or inactive @Trome Things to keep in mind about any person you choose: Are they likely to obit in a major newspaper? Are they a well known celebrity? √ Do they have a Wikipedia page in any language (that clearly wasn't made just for Deathlisting) √ I would say they are a well known celebrity and have a wikipedia page in. I can definitely see the confusion, this site is often very British orientated. I tried to make the criteria here more vague to allow for a more global competition. 1 pointThis has probably been the driest year for celebrity ambulance chasing since I became somewhat invested in it as a teen in the mid-2000s. Sure, there's been a handful of expected ill dudes peacing out (Keith, Field, Burrow, Irwin, Doherty), but their field of replacements who are obviously circling the drain is pretty skimpy, and aside from that, it's just dry spell after dry spell, and the actual deaths are very light on top-of-the-line names. Pretty telling that, as comatose the DL has been, there's only been a single miss, and it was Doherty, vs. Crosby, Boothroyd, Kaczynski, Berlusconi, Gambon last year. I mean, even 2022 was pretty respectable despite Smith, Piggott, Cribbins, Newton-John, Johnson, Walters, Benedict, etc. dying off the list. And yet nobody wants to rub it in this year. No Yoko Ono death? Liza Minnelli? Douglas Hurd? Hal Linden killed in a BMX stunt gone wrong? Alan Alda succumbs to SuperParkinson's: Extreme Edition? Andy Taylor decides he doesn't like taking medication? Brian Wilson's dementia turns out to be Gena Rowlands-esque? One of the more forgotten picks from the past like Tommy Chong, Tim Johnson, Ronnie Wood, Mike Ditka, Mr. T or whoever else? Ghost town. But not literally. It's funny to me that the year began with Johns, Hayes, Randolph, and Jewison all taken out in the span of a week or two. I figured we'd be in for another year of clearouts, but now apparently all the huge geezers have just decided they don't want to die.

1 pointSelim Hoss (1929-2024) "No! I can't die before Michel Aoun! Pleaseee" (Hoss tries to make a deal with the Reaper) "Damn! He beat me again!" (Michel Aoun) "He wanted us to attack Israel! That's his last wish! He told me!" (Hassan Nasrallah) Age at death: 94 Known health issues: Skeletal in 2020, rumoured death mutiple times in the last four years. Cause of death: Poisoned by the Mossad. Alignment: PM during a very difficult time for Lebanon, namely a civil war. He fought for years with his archnemesis Michel Aoun, who was the legally nominated head of state. Hoss, a Muslim, asked Syrian troops to intervein against Aoun, a Christian. This ultimately led to Aoun's fall in 1990. Hoss was a staunch supporter of the Palestinian cause and his relation with Hezbollah remains shady. However, he was also the only Lebanese PM to stop death penalties in the country, and he converted to Shia just for one day in order to leave a better will for his daughter.

1 pointI got the team lists posted above. Known hits were highlighted in my personal spreadsheet but did not transfer to this posting. I remember that happening last year too, after the fact of course. I will update posted scores, maybe monthly.
