Death Impends 8,023 Posted November 30 You read that right. 30 years of the DDP. A mighty milestone few could've envisioned when it was a local 90s affair that had its own trophy. 2024, despite an overall hits tally on track to break the record, felt fairly arid on the headliner and competitive fronts, perhaps portending a mighty 2025 enema. Whatever happens, @time, @Banana and I are once again here to guide you through it... Dear Jimmy - either die in the next week, or go all the way to- wait, I wrote this before... THE RULES are near exactly what they were last time, with the only edits done being updating all instances of 2023/2024 to 2024/2025, and changing The Times' URL from .co.uk to .com. IMPORTANT REMINDER: The spreadsheet method of entry that began in 2021 remains in service. The 2025 spreadsheet, identical to the 2024 one in all but filename, can be found here. It is heavily recommended to use the spreadsheet as means of entry to reduce Banana's workload as much as possible. If you are absolutely unable to work with the Excel spreadsheet, still make sure to recheck GUN's DDP entry guide thread from 2020 to make the formatting of your email as smooth as possible.
YoungWillz 21,112 Posted December 1 Suppose I'd better start researching. While my 1989 TOTP theme team already has 13 possibles from a cursory glance, I'll still need 7 to make a team. The other two teams - punt those.
time 8,654 Posted December 1 The sense of anticipation as a new year of DDP approaches, now coupled with dread as I struggle to remember @gcreptile's instructions and advice from last year!
ladyfiona 2,631 Posted December 1 I don't think I have enough survivors of 1922 to put in my 1922 team, lol. Edit - Phew I found some random Chinese architects still alive.
Grim Up North 3,765 Posted Wednesday at 16:04 Hi everyone - wasn’t sure where to post this but here seems as good a place as any. After a few false alarms I am finally being made redundant on 31st December and at 56 and a half I plan to try and eke out a fun existence on what I have so unless I get bored my redundancy will double as my retirement. With incredible bad timing whilst I was planning to spend the next 10 years hiking all the Wainwrights and having a jolly good time my wife has been busy developing a heart condition - still awaiting a final diagnosis but she’ll be on meds forever by the sounds of it (she’s not obitable before @maryportfuncity asks). Anyway I’ve decided to also retire from Deadpooling and being a member on this site - get on living rather than monitoring who might be dying. I don’t think the two are mutually exclusive, I’ve had some great fun reading and posting on here but I also want to try and reduce the time I spend staring at a computer/phone and this site is definitely something that pulls me in. Somewhere on here there is a post by @Spade_Cooley that says something like ‘it won’t be the last one’ when I won the Hares Pool. In actual fact as it turned out it was my one and only. Thank you to everyone for all the wonderful posts, less so to those of you who are obsessed with old and obscure people, and also to those of you who have run the Dead Pools on here that I have very much enjoyed taking part in. I wish you all many happy years living and deadpooling until, like me, you have tired of it (deadpooling) and wish to fill your lives with something new. I’ll still be around until 19th but I won’t be entering a team in this year’s DDP - I think that site and the people who maintain it is amazing and a real labour of love. Take care you wonderful bunch of strangers! Cheers, GUN 2

Your Crazy Eight Dead Pool entry will still stand in your absence, so a win posthumous to your activity here may still be possible. Good luck and may the Force be with you.

YoungWillz 21,112 Posted Wednesday at 17:44 Always sad to see someone go, especially one who stood up for the DDP when it was needed. Take care of your loved ones, I spent a long time doing that, so with nothing to do, staring at a computer all day is all I have!! Remember, you are allowed to drop by at those quiet times and maybe give us a laugh or two. I will miss ya. 1

Captain Hemlock 748 Posted Wednesday at 23:06 Sad to see you go @Grim Up North. You were always kind when I submitted my lists (which likely included all sorts of errors) on the DDP. I wish the best for you and your wife. I'm actually slightly older than you so I know what it's like.

Cheers Given the mutual jokes for years before hand about replacing TMIB and Spade I feel like we sort of worked ourselves into a shoot like Jim Cornette and the gimmick battle royal (Spade should get that reference at least). However with your impending forum retirement I'd like to remind you of one of the greatest bits of advice you gave your co-host... "msc, it's new years day, stop replying to (repeat emails of grumpy regular) and go and have some whisky!" Couldn't argue with top advice like that! 2
