Here’s my suggestion for the 2024 list (if he makes it)

Francis Clifford Smith (1924) Oldest American Prisoner Alive/Longest Sentence Ever (Non Consecutively) he has no known health issues but he currently lives in a nursing home and is turning 99 next month, 8 total decades in prison has never been done before him but he survived, According to the Boston Globe he still thinks he’s in prison but he’s in a nursing home.

Just says they are hopeful.

There will be an official announcement next week, which is surely about him being discharged.

Without surprises he sees this hospitalization off, and it's impressive.

So Zagallo and Buthelezi were improving but there's not been updates in two days. Zagallo's "improving" update said they don't have a discharge day for him ready yet.

Thimmakka...there's been radio silence for more than a week now.

Nritya Gopal Das made an appearance two days ago, it's on facebook. He's wheelchair or bedbound round the clock and if you look closely at some of his images there's some tubes around. He's still suffering from massive kidney problems. He has a designated successor who's around 20 years younger, as does Thich Thanh Tu. The successors don't really look healthy either.

From my suggestions on page 20...(they're all 40+ of them still alive)

Wanda Półtawska made an appearance some days ago (it's on facebook). Her hand has bandages, but she doesn't look much frailer than before.

Akihiro Miwa and Tep Vong have made appearances recently. Miwa is suspected to be very ill and was on Japan's TV late last month looking extremely thin. (He's been "very ill" for the last four decades) Tep Vong who's still recovering from a series of strokes in 2019-2020 looks frail, but his designated successor (Non Nget, នន្ទ ង៉ែត, who is aged somewhere between 87 and 101) is apparently quite ill and followers have been asking prayers.

After four months in ICU he is out and about. 110 years old.

Legend. I bow to you.

Fuck's sake. Next: Bob Barker stable and recovering after being blown up by Russian rocket.

Shocking twist: Bob Barker did not, in fact, survive the Russian rocket.

Here's a "recap" who there has been in addition to Krasko since December:

1. Bedros Kirkorov (1932) History of heart problems, a-fib, in ICU with congestive heart failure in April 2022, hospitalised with massive heart problems and in ICU in November 2022 and underwent emergency heart surgery and pacemaker implantation, again in ICU with pneumothorax and pneumonia combination in December 2022 that he was not expected to survive, hospitalised in January with pneumonia and complications of angina pectoris, heart failure and CAD. Again in hospital in July.

2. Nikolay Drozdov (1937) Recently he's been hospitalised atleast two times after breaking multiple of his ribs and last month he was very ill and in ICU with an intestinal infection, kidney cysts and everything else. He of course survived and was discharged more than a week ahead of schedule.

3. Leonid Roshal (1933) Suffers from parkinson's and brain tumors, hospitalised in ICU in critical condition in February after a severe fall, apparently recovered in a few weeks.

4. Alexander Mitta (1933) Serious covid in March, in ICU, serious condition after suffering a severe stroke in July.

5. Gleb Panfilov (1934-2023) Widowed in January, fighting for his life after suffering a major stroke (+ pneumonia) in May. Spent more than a month in ICU and still hasn't been discharged, but was already "in good health" in July.

6. Larisa Latynina (1934) Hospitalised in January with a heart attack as a complication from a stroke. Of course it apparently wasn't enough.

7. Lidiya Fedoseyeva-Shukshina (1938) Very ill for the last ten years with heart failure, "acute heart attack" in 2019, hospitalised in unstable condition, ICU in June after suffering a stroke and discharged a month later.

8. Igor Yasulovich (1941-2023) In coma, ventilator, ICU with acute kidney failure and hydronephrosis in July, "recovering" in August.

9. Nikolai Trubin (1931) Last Soviet Procurator General. Obese and falsely said to have died in 1996, hospitalised last month with massive heart problems, probably discharged by now.

Nikolay Drozdov hospitalised AGAIN, this time apparently with minor infection and "possible oncological diseases". He thinks he might have skin cancer or prostate cancer (or both).

Edit: apparently also underwent intestinal surgery.

New Buthelezi update here, apparently:

https://www.timeslive.co.za/news/south-africa/2023-09-01-buthelezi-still-not-out-of-hospital-daughter-says-burn-wound-to-blame/

According to his daughter the story of him having been burnt by a hot water bottle is true and the wound is still healing, which is the only reason he's still in hospital. However he was on life support until last week with pneumonia, surgery and diabetes complications etc. Of course he's now recovering fastly and could communicate well on his 95th. The most absurd part of the article is that they're saying "he won't live forever".

A timely reminder that being discharged from hospital is sometimes done to let them “go home to die” as per their wishes when there’s nothing else that can be done for them medically.
