Octopus of Odstock 2,186 Posted April 8, 2013 Well this has got me so excited I had to return to the Deathlist! Yesterday I bought a bottle of champagne, and it's now in the fridge and ready for when the announcement is made. I read lots of commets online about people wanting to dance on her grave and I suggest we have a DL meet in the cemetery and proceed to have a party on her grave. That is, if there's space. I suspect her grave will be a very happening place, what with all the people dancing, spitting and urinating on it I am surprised Dia de los Muertos hasn't turned up yet to celebrate this time around. I wonder if she has finally opened that bottle of champagne one year on. I would love to hear her opinion on this certain Argentinian person too... Where are you, Dia? Out celebrating? Her profile on facebook does indeed have her celebrating with champagne and paella.
Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted April 8, 2013 Those people, rightly or wrongly, celebrating Thatcher's demise, have now made the international news, so I guess they have achieved their aim in venting their feelings to the world.

If she still is, perhaps she ought to have fucked off back to Argentina to celebrate with her "people". If, however, she is back in Argentina land, celebrate away. There is fuck all else for the average Argentinian to celebrate.

Lady Grendel 139 Posted April 8, 2013 Many years ago when I worked in a pub I was told never to discuss politics or religion with the customers. Today the amount of arguments (discussions) between friends on Facebook who have opposite views has been quite fascinating. One pair of friends who have known each other from childhood have now hidden each other's posts as they will never agree., they have agreed to reopen communication once it is all over. I really don't think anyone else in my lifetime has been so divisive. I can see both points of view, for some she came along at the right time and they have done very well under her policies, for my family she was a disaster, the 1980's were sheer hell for us. I am sure I have posted details of our struggles on this site before. I fall firmly into the camp that is happy to see her gone but I will not be drawn into arguments about it, it has all been done before. I respect that lots of people think she was great but I ask that they respect my right to hate the woman. As I posted on my Facebook page today 'We all have differing opinions and are each entitled to our own views'. I will not be commenting further. 1
Godot 149 Posted April 8, 2013 I wonder what the chances are of Mark Thatcher being ambushed at the funeral by secret service agents from Equatorial Guinea, who spirit him out of the country to face trial for sponsoring the failed coup of 2004, whereupon he is found guilty and immediately hanged in public? Is it wishful thinking that he might commit suttee? I don't suppose they'd allow that at the crem. Pity. What a worthless shit he is. And that's being kind. Dr. Zorders 1,271 Posted April 9, 2013 Apparently the funeral will include a "procession through London". When I heard that, I thought it could mean one of two things. Either they're going to wheel her coffin around on a cart, or Bernie Ecclestone finally got the go-ahead for that London Grand Prix he's been after for a few years now.
maryportfuncity 10,639 Posted April 9, 2013 I'm surprised we haven't seen an up to date interview with Scargill. I wonder if he's not too well? I bet there were a few of the old guard on all sides only hanging on to outlive her. Let's face it, whatever you think, she was one of a kind. I thought she did a good job for motorway service stations. Before Thatcher they were shit, stank of piss and served up cardboard egg sandwiches. OK, they've regressed again, but for a while underThatcher you had some pretty outstanding motorway bog cleaners while egg and cress in granary wasn't half bad. A very divisive figure and one who has clearly outlived any serious support he once enjoyed. He fought and lost a case about the use of flat that belongs to the NUM not too long ago. I was struck by his absence from the discussion. In fact, a lot of coverage tended to act as if he was dead. They've dug up a few old enemies (like Ken Livingstone and Kinnock). The militants, Derek Hatton and Scargill, might just have been too incendiary for the last 24 hours.

Derek Hatton's a property developer and motivational speaker nowadays, he's pretty much heelturned on socialism.

Perfect Passing 277 Posted April 9, 2013 I am struggling to think of any other human being alive or dead that have been more devisive than Mrs T. This thread alone is testament to this. WOW! Wait till the queen pegs t..... Diana must have been close? Eta, I don't think this is devisive, 90 % wish her in hell up here......the rest are churchgoers....( no Tories) The thing I find astonishing is that nobody has a truly neutral opinion of her at all, that was my devisive point, you either loved her or absolutely detested her. I reckon her Maj & Di do/did have a fair few people who just don't give a toss, but with Mrs T, views expressed here and around the country are poles apart!
