This could pose a Minor problem for his family’s Thanksgiving plans.

Damn.  Almost 20 years ago now, I had a niece die at just 6 weeks old due to severe heart complications following a series of surgeries, and she was born with the same affliction.  (Many Down babies are born with major heart defects.)  What I wouldn't have given for her to outlive me.  Anyway, at his age and given this news, I suppose that Erskine is probably an extremely good candidate for 2024 Lists, even though he doesn't look awful in that previous photo.

Groth's death leaves 10 baseball players who played in the 1940's that are alive (According to BR Bullpen).

Eddie Robinson is 100 but is in decent shape. George Elder is also 100. The other 8 alive are Chris Haughey, Eddie Basinki, Tommy Brown, Carl Erskine, Larry Miggins, Cloyd Boyer and Bobby Shantz. All these guys with the exception of Robinson (who created a podcast) live private lives and have not had media mentions in basically forever.

Larry Miggins (wikidead at 98.

Ken Mackenzie of the expansion NY Mets team, has died aged 89.

Autograph Warehouse 725376 Ken Mackenzie Autographed New York Mets 1962 ...

He was the only pitcher with a winning record (5-4) that season as the Mets finished 40-120.

The Mets said nine players remain alive from the 1962 team.

Most notable one would be Ed Kranepool

I didn’t bother to chase it down but it might be a fun little side list to keep track of herein.  Can also to former Houston Colt 45s or Seattle Pilots. We should begin running out of Montreal Expos in another decade. There are only (I think 5) remaining players from my 1968 Detroit Tigers pennant winners.

I mentioned Fred (Chicken) Stanley a while back as a possibility for the last surviving Seattle Pilots player due to his age.

We won't be running out of Expos any time soon. Bartolo Colón is immortal.

Would imagine it's more akin to a Rosalynn Carter than Jimmy Carter timeline here, sadly.

Ryan Minor reportedly dead.

Wonder how many teams already submitted for next year had him on it. Possibly the first great hosewash of teams, I'd think.

Are you certain it's a QO? The originating story is from an American source. I noticed this as well - and have Minor in the DDP Pool - but am not yet counting it as confirmed.

Yahoo has always been that way, it counts
