Well he got plenty of Q/O articles none of which were routine coverage of the accident itself. Plus he might well make the end of BBC Sport round up of deaths - non professionals dying young and violently have made it before.

Long term former keeper for Bristol Rovers Howard Radford being reported dead aged 91:

Surprised he isn't mentioned on the Oldest Living Footballers thread, maybe Bristol have a longer survivor @Octopus of Odstock?

They do. Josser Watling. He's not in the oldest footballers thread as he was born in 1930 but I'm working on the 1930 and 1931 births currently

Not sure if this has cropped up in the preceding 136 pages, but this website (https://soccernostalgia.blogspot.com/) does a pretty good job once a quarter of listing the football dead from around the world, along with a swift bio (if you scroll down a bit past the list itself)

eg

I think In 40 years time they will be a even bigger gap in footballer v general population life expectancy.  So many of the ones seem to still binge drink, sun bed like crazy and even look like they drug take when binge drinking is declining in society. Particularly English ones - there are only a few tetotal (Harry Kane for example) or even moderate drinking English ones.

Some sources reported the death of Marcel Mauron (wiki), Swiss footballer who played in the 1954 World Cup, though most of them are now down and he is reported on wiki to have died in 1998 (sourced).

Another source for his death here with a picture of him in 2010, so the source for 1998 must be wrong.

So, Mason Greenwood - suicide risk, taken down (fatally) whilst on remand or does he survive and six weeks after release are Mansfield Town supporters sipping Bovril and agreeing he's the best thing to happen to the Stags in living memory?

Or am I just being naiive and is it all a simple misunderstanding?

He is finished.

Maybe we need to do a something about predicting how long he is going away for.

The former president of Palermo, Maurizio Zamparini, died this night around 2 am in the Cotignola clinic, in the province of Ravenna, where he had been hospitalized for a few days.

At Christmas, Zamparini had been hospitalized in intensive care in Udine for peritonitis. He had returned home after a few days, but his condition had recommended a new hospitalization.
