Ahmet Eyüp Türkaslan’s death has now been denied. However, he’s still still under the rubble.

I know it's cliche to say this whenever a football figure dies, but what a team that Croatia 98 side were. They probably would have won the tournament if it wasn't staged in France.

Blazevic is a DDP unique for Banana's B-team by the way. Only B-team because he thought there weren't any bonusses to Blazevic. But then apparently, everybody thought so, and so nobody really picked him.

(Also interesting for the discussion on whether unique picks in the DDP should get even higher scores. I'm against it, because you can get an almost game-breaking bonus by luck.)

Christian atsu has been alive ,dead saved, under rubble, out the rubble & back under again all in the space of a 48 hours. The reports of him being rescued seem to be another African man being rescued & assumed to be him. Not sure how accurate that is. This could literally go on for weeks/months until he's found.

Marcos "Marquitos" Alonso Imaz, who helped Real Madrid win a record five straight European Cups, has died. He was 78. His grandson is the current Bolton player, Marcos Alonso.

The long illness explains why his son was desperate to leave Chelsea in the summer as it was reported he had personal reasons as to why he wanted to move back to Spain.

Alex Stepney was at Old Trafford last night and with the pictures on Social Media he looks well for 80.

Be interesting to see who the last man standing from the 1968 team will be. Stepney although 80 does have the advantage over others from that era in that he wasn't an  outfield player so wouldn't have been heading the ball when we see the amount of outfield players from that era suffering from Dementia

It would be nice if Bobby Charlton will be the last man standing from the 1966 England team AND the 1968 Manchester team

Jason Bowen, Swansea, Birmingham City, Cardiff and briefly Wales player, has had MND since 2021: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64584307

You missed out his best club:P

Ex-Reading as well and I remember him well as a classy winger, decent crosser of the ball.

Worryingly, the statement didn't include a quote from Bowen directly, just his family which makes me fear he's more likely to be a quicker death than some of the 5/6 years on average for others.

Really sad, but these MND cases are only likely to increase.

I wonder why they will increase. With rugby we have the transition to  professionalism being a trigger for MND and Dementia Increase but while footballers have got stronger have they really increased their risk of Brain damage even further? Compared to previous generations?
