Has Prince had a spider named after him?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heteropoda_davidbowie

I don't know but Lady Gaga had a wasp named after her.

Oh gaud, I hope she's doesn't attempt another "tribute" to Prince this time. Boot polish on standby...

I'm out.....it was great to talk about the greats (Bowie and Prince) but the mention of Carey and Swift AND comparing them to B & P just got me out of this thread.....I'm done....the only good thing Carey is good at is screaming and drama queening and I don't even want to start on Swift.....that bitch doesn't even deserve to be talked about

 In the States anyway Bowie probably had his biggest hits in the 80's with his most unabashedly commercial pop records. If he had tried making a something similiar to Let's Dance 20-30 years later he would have ended up using the same Producers as Swift and Carey.

As said previously Bowie's only "great" single is "Modern Love", because it sounds like Kenny Loggins.

Bowie also acted and was very innovative which I why I think Prince is more akin to Bowie than Michael Jackson. They both experimented. Those experiments didn't always work but they allowed later artists other freedoms.

Its all crap anyway.

If you liked Prince but didn't like Bowie, Prince was the most significant, if you were a tone deaf Japanese cock warbler it would be old Maurice of EWF.

All about personal opinions.

I think prince is the biggest.

Whilst he was more popular and (probably) more well known than Bowie in the USA, Bowie had a much bigger worldwide audience in my humble opinion.

But I promise most of Asia wouldn't know Bowie if he resurrected on the Great Wall but they bloody well are aware who Prince was.

Maybe, maybe not. From my experience the most well known international pop star was/is (in terms of still mentioned) Michael Jackson. He got mentioned plenty of times by people I knew or worked with, but Prince or Bowie, nope.

But he didn't :) I love pop and EDM and no one would be happier then me if Bowie made more pop tunes but I respect artists who write their own music and try to go deep even if it's pop, unlike Swift who can't stop singing child written lyrics about how boys suck with the same fucking melody (even the rapist Dr. Luke can't see any potential in Swift so he makes thing simple with her just like with J.Lo)....I may be 23 but still, I never liked any Swift or Carey song and Carey is considered one of the people who marked my generation (again, not in Europe) but I do like older songs from Lady Gaga even though I can't stand her. What I meant is that I respect artists like Bowie and Prince who even though did not have any real hit since 80's, they kept doing what they love no mater the charts and current trend in mainstream music. Unlike Beyonce, J.Lo, Carey, Swift, Katy Perry and others who would be nothing if there weren't people in their shadow who make them what they are. Whitney's dead too but I don't have the same respect as I have to Bowie, Prince and Jackson.

Wasp? Even the erstwhile presenters of Top Gear have had wasps named after them! Then again who hasn't? Spiders are a much more select group including Brian Eno, Lou Reed, Elvis Presley Pink Floyd & er, Bono.

There's a full (?) list of organisms named after famous people here, quite interesting/mildly diverting! (and Prince isn't on it).

Yeah, it's good that Bowie never embarrassingly jumped on pop bandwagons:

I liked that album. Little Wonder was the reason why I bought that album. Afraid of Americans came out, after I bought the album, & it is also a great song.

Yup, and because it was found near Folsom Prison.

Did that spider bite a man in Reno just to watch him die?

That is pretty interesting. Paul Darrow has an extinct reptile named after him!
