He was born in 1943 and was a candidate for the 2009 European Parliament election in Sweden. Excerpts from an article from 30 Nov 2017 (with my own sloppy translation): *The skating world champion has incurable cancer *The prostate cancer was discovered too late and has spread to the bone *Jonny Nilsson, 74, doesn't regret not taking a PSA-test earlier *Was a top athlete in the 1960s, and won a World Cup gold, a World Cup bronze and an Olympic gold in ice skating. He set 5 world records and was pronounced the best Nordic athlete in 1964 *Discovered in the summer of 2017 that he had several tumours on his back bone, and metastasis in the skull bone and in one of his hips *His PSA-value was 1000 *Treatments include castrate medicine & estrogen *His disease described by the article as "deadly" Jonny Nilsson dead. Still remarkable news though because naturally, testicular cancer usually mostly appears for younger men, and he's 39 years old. Norwegian athletes have long been under suspicion for their exceptional results. They have a lot of asthmatics, curiously. Shades of Lance Armstrong.

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted January 5, 2023 Two-time German Olympic ski champion Rosi Mittermaier has died at the age of 72. One of the stars of the 1976 Winter Olympics, Mittermaier passed away after a "serious illness". Mittermaier is regarded as one of the greatest skiers in history, having made her World Cup debut aged just 16 in 1967. But her biggest success as a pro athlete undoubtedly came in 1976. Aged 25, she finally won her first overall World Cup title, plus the slalom and combined discipline titles. That same year, Mittermaier also dominated the slopes at the Winter Olympic Games in Innsbruck, Austria. SC
