According to his Wiki page, he introduced the Tits buildings, the Tits alternative, the Tits group and the Tits metric.

What a Tit!

I very much enjoyed selecting an image for his entry on the DDP website.

He might have regained as since 2008 those who had given up citizenship could apply for it to be restored as from that year Belgium allowed duel citizenship.

RIP..

He's not dead but visible red LED light inventor Nick Holoynak is still alive and just turned 93 a few weeks ago. The Queen has reminded us all he exists by giving him an award for his discovery in 1962, the Queen Elizabeth Price for Engineering, as apparently his invention did a lot to bring about energy efficient lightbulbs. Also, he didn't get the Nobel Prize for this, but apparently the team who worked on his discovery did. Anyhow, alive,  not able to travel due to covid but eminently obitable one day.

He won the the Pulitzer Prize for General Non-Fiction in 1979 and 1991.

Also James Dewey Watson's enemy. He described Watson as "the most unpleasant human being I had ever met".

No obits yet, but great American chemist Fred McLafferty (wiki) has died at 98.

McLafferty's rearrangement is one of the finest understandings of chemistry happening in unconventional conditions and my favourite MS rearrangement (fuck retro-Diels Alder, who the hell uses cyclohexenes?).

Telegraph death announcement for Árpád Pusztai (wiki), Hungarian-born British biochemist whose concerns over genetically modified potatoes and the effects on the body caused the Pusztai affair in 1998.

He died at his home in Aberdeen on December 17th, aged 91.

Picked in the DDP last in 2014 (d'oh!).

Tweet reporting the death of Ralph Anspach (wiki), aged 96.

Invented Anti-Monopoly, which subsequently caused a few interesting legal battles.
