Yet another reason to say FUCK PUTIN!!! War in Ukraine aside, we've won that. Sam Ryder, take a bow! Proof if we put the effort in, we can still do it.

Obvious winner.  Will be interesting where they'll host it next year.

Sam Ryder is an absolute legend, an incredible representative for this country. We won the jury vote, WON it.

Of course, many people predicted a Ukraine win, and understandably so. But I thought their song was pretty decent. And, as has been said, if we put the effort in, we CAN get results.

The UK, the social pariahs we are, have gone from literal zero to hero. Second is an amazing result.

5th in the public vote too. Out of 25 countries. Ahead of Sweden! :o

We all know why Spain got so many votes, and it had nothing to do with music.

All is normal with Germany though as they got 0 points from the Jury.

My take on all this bollocks is if Ukraine got it on a sympathy vote what does it say about us?

Thank's Boris, we must be the next sad country in line.

Clearly France's attempts to summon a demon did not work and it did seem a bit rude of Mika to undermine all the contestants by being better than them during the performance whilst everyone was voting.

I liked Armeia, Holland & Greece

Knowing his fondness for dressing up  on the matters of the day, anyone else think Boris will take PMQs this week holding a huge flute and sporting a pink hat?

Awesome night, it will take me all Sunday to dry out from all the Glenlivet I've consumed.

I was more surprised at France giving the UK 12 points.

This is what you get if you mix together Babylon Zoo, Oasis style orchestration and the guitar riff from I Love Rock n Roll, along with a bit of Sam Smith style vocals, Elton John-style inverted chords and Beatles IV-IVm-I chord progressions...
Great song from Sam Ryder! I have had it on loop the whole day.

People say the reason top british artists didn't enter in the past was because they lose the revenues\copyright from the song, which are retained by Eurovision as a condition of entry. So perhaps this is the way around it, make it like a pastiche of a lot of other songs and styles and you don't need to worry about lawsuits since you have already given away the revenues to Eurovision. Then use the success to open up other doors in the business.

I love it how Finland always seem like they just want to rock :)

Hopefully their army is more up to date with things.

Worth pointing out that was from the jury of supposed musical experts. The French public gave us 2 points. Only Czech Republic (2), Armenia (1), Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia (all 0) gave us less from the public vote. The former Yugoslavia not all that keen.

I see Robert Cogoi who represented Belgium at the 1964 Contest finishing tenth equal with Pres De Ma Riviere has died aged 82: https://www-telesambre-be.translate.goog/deces-de-robert-cogoi-retour-sur-sa-carriere?_x_tr_sl=fr&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=sc

Unfortunately the 1964 contest is known for little remaining of tape of the event, so here's the man himself elsewhere:

DDP pick @gcreptile I think for Book?

Yes, she is on my theme team but I doubt that she will get a qo, like always.

Might be a push certainly, but what a career!

No chance she has a tenuous link with The Beatles? ;)

He är död, say the Swedish sites. You don't really want a link in Swedish, do you? Good, I thought not.

I know she has her own thread, but I want to share Olivia Newton-John’s entry from 1974, died today.

Vesa-Matti Loiri dead at 77: https://www.is.fi/viihde/art-2000008995585.html

Had been diagnosed with two terminal cancers in January.

Wondered where I'd heard of Vesa-Matti Loiri before.

Finished in last place in the 1980 Eurovision with Huilumies:
