MortalCaso 1,624 Posted July 21, 2023 Sad. I don't think people realize what a good guy Tony Bennett was. I'll be listening to his music this weekend and I feel a bit more sad than expected. RIP
jd24fan 78 Posted July 21, 2023 A total shame. Losing Tony is like the end of an era in music, as he was one of the last old-style crooners still living until today. I mean, when Frank Sinatra says you're his favorite singer, that's a badge of honor in my opinion. I wonder how many of the old crooners are left? Regarding the other poster who says that him being forced to retire from performing might've been the downhill slide for him, I'll have to agree. I remember when Glen Campbell had Alzheimer's, many people thought he wouldn't perform again, but as soon as he gets up on stage with his guitar in hand, he's having a blast and being himself. Tony was a national treasure, so this is a big loss for the world. R.I.P. Tony.
Sir Creep 7,070 Posted July 21, 2023 It’s always sad when we lose someone who was likeable and easily admirable. RIP Tony Bennett, you’re one of the few. SirC
Commtech Sio Bibble 2,027 Posted July 21, 2023 Burt Bacharach, Harry Belafonte and now Tony Bennett. It's been a bad year to be a nonagenarian musician with a last name beginning with B. Also means 6/9 of the hits so far this year have been music related people.
Fantomasss 208 Posted July 21, 2023 Not only for nonagerians, it's a dark year for music : David Crosby, Jeff Beck, Tina Turner, Burt Bacharach, Harry Belafonte, Tony Bennett, Astrud Gilberto... And for french people : Marcel Amont, Jean Louis Murat, Jane Birkin 54 minutes ago, Commtech Sio Bibble said: Burt Bacharach, Harry Belafonte and now Tony Bennett. MrWonderful 480 Posted July 22, 2023 He was my favorite of the old school American crooners, and I'd like to echo some of the comments above. This is a profound loss, as he was an extremely talented man and a good man, too. Rest well, Mr. Benedetto.

Lots of them, including many obscure nonentities, are "remembered" at Awards Ceremonies every year. The big problem is when aging or forgotten "stars" inflict their "singing "on us (notably at Royal concerts) and expect us to be grateful for being tortured. Tom Jones, Rod Stewart and even Robbie Williams should follow Elton's belated example and leave us in peace.
