Seems like a lot of them have died during the last few years. There's the US assholes Raymond Burke and Timothy Broglio, Walter Brandmüller who is 94, maybe Gerhard Müller and Francis Arinze. Juan Sandoval Íñiguez is another hardliner but seems to be quite ill. Who else? I'm always impressed by the number of obscure names that you know off ! How is that ? Also, who's that man on your profil pic ?

Brandmüller's one of the oldest cardinals and is my 20/20 replacement if my current guy dies, Arinze's a former potential pope and Broglio (and the much, much more known Burke) I've known for a while from news and controversies. The guy in my profile picture is a young Satya Mohan Joshi.

YoungWillz 17,488 Posted March 29 Been away most of the day. Sounds like he had breathing issues, they arranged for him to come in and discovered it wasn't too good. Either that or the Vatican's initial statement was polishing a turd. In any event, he's the Pope. Jeez, I'm not RC but every whisper of Prince Philip or Her Maj going into hospital had the doom merchants out on here predicting their demise, speculating what was wrong etc etc. Whatever you think of the whole bally incense and mass, he really is that important to many.
Superstar 224 Posted March 29 If he dies, it might have more coverage than the one event that happened on September 8th, 2022. 1
Comped 216 Posted March 30 1 hour ago, When The said: If he dies, it might have more coverage than the one event that happened on September 8th, 2022. I doubt it in terms of significance. He's only been Pope for 10 years, nowhere near the length of JPII, and he isn't as universally loved as the Queen was. Yes the media will cover it, but it will not be all encompassing like it was with the Queen, at least until we get to the conclave. That will be around the clock coverage...

Lafaucheuse 3,278 Posted March 30 the news are reassuring, the doctors are optimistic apparently and he is said to be able to host easter celebration on sunday but I must say he doesn't look good in those pictures from yesterday… Did he gain a lot of weight or is it just me ?

prussianblue 648 Posted March 31 John Paul II was still wheeled out for Easter despite being a mute, hunched, drooling husk. I suspect Francis would need to be on his deathbed to miss it.
