We heard for years she was "fantastic", "immortal" and other bullshit, bit pictures of here were never shown, suggesting her health may have been declining. Now Daily Fail will go with "Dame Olivia de Havilland dead a few days after riding her bike out". First of all, Daily Fail is the perfect name for them. And second of all, you're absolutely correct. Olivia had a few images on her 104th but if I remember correctly those were our first images since her 103rd.

She was already wheelchair bound.
IRememberTheDayZsaZsaDied 18 Posted July 26, 2020 Guess it's time to rewatch GWTW... Now I'm worried that Keith Richards might actually die someday...

So if that's our latest picture of Olivia, then her health was probably horrible. So my question is, how the hell are we doing a pun on her name?

That rag achieves exactly what it sets out to do. I think of it more as the Daily Stale, given its propensity to drag up old stories and add to them without editing the original copy.

ThePrematureBurial 224 Posted July 26, 2020 She gave an unforgettable performance in "The dark mirror" (1946). In this film she played identical twins. One of them is nice, the other one is a pychopath who kills her lover. But she can't be arrested, because her sister has an alibi & the police can't tell them apart. A shrink, however, uses the Rorschach test & exposes the culprit.
CoffinLodger 1,248 Posted July 26, 2020 I might actually watch Gone with the Wind for the first time ever tonight as a tribute to her! There is one actor from it still alive though, Mickey Kuhn. H was doing voluntary work at a local hospice less than 3 years ago in his mid 80s so it might be a while before he goes...

Lafaucheuse 4,046 Posted July 26, 2020 A really sad news indeed... I didn’t want her to die this year and I just red about her demise while leaving my great grandmother of 100 years old in here hospice care...
Gooseberry Crumble 5,342 Posted July 26, 2020 The extremely unusual ,unique ahd semi baffling thing about Olivia de Havillands passing is the reaction. Few people of that age would receive any reactions of shock at the news of their death. Not so with Olivia as this forum illustrates. She was a real phenomenon.

I'm aware she was born in Tokyo to british parents but she is british nationality If her nationality was japanese then she wouldn't have been able to be made a Dame by the Queen. chiesa52 132 Posted July 26, 2020 Funny I was thinking about her just a couple of days ago- heard it on the radio driving home- Rest In Peace, Olivia! She was a really fantastic actress, who also worked hard to get actors out of the studio system- but a good long life indeed!
Dying Probably 578 Posted July 26, 2020 Well, next year's list will look very odd, with the team of Vera Lynn, Kirk Douglas, Perez de Cuellar and now Olivia De Havilland's deaths. All have been on the list since 2014.

There's at least 150+ names on that list who appeared in Hollywood movies during the 30s and 40s. There's no dispute with them – the 1940s was definitely part of the Golden era. The dispute of where it ends comes into play when you're looking at movies post–1948.
