philheybrookbay 439 Posted December 17, 2018 As someone who can pinpoint that start of the collapse of my own civil partnership at 4 months ( and we’d been together 5 years beforehand and then staggered on for a long mostly bitter 6 years) the counter claim that things don’t fall apart that quickly simply isn’t true. All it takes is one massive row , a lack of backing down and bingo you’re in trouble. And if you loose the faith of the in-laws which happened in my case towards the end, forget it. You may as well run up the white flag and give up. It’s all looking depressingly familiar tbh.

What if you never had their faith to begin with because the in law is a raving nutter? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46590480

paddyfool 379 Posted February 12, 2019 It's not really that similar a situation to Charles and Diana. Diana was 19 when she got engaged to a much older Charles, 20 when she married him, and 36 when she died. Meghan was 36 already when she married Harry (and a few months older at that time than Diana had been when she died), so presumably able to make a slightly more grown up decision. millwall32 114 Posted February 18, 2019 2024 seems a decent bet. Should be long enough to guarantee a tasty divorce settlement.
