He just got a stent inserted into him, which is pretty common for people younger than him to have inside his body. Unless this becomes a continuing trend, I don’t think he’s completely done, although this probably will hurt his campaign a bit...

Yeah, I reckon he won't make it to be the final candidate - not sure if Bidon will either. I think someone much younger than Trump would be the best call come the head to head debates -  assuming Trump lasts to then

Think sanders will stand down.  Still sticking with Biden to win with Warren as VP.

I don't think this necessarily will destroy his campaign, but rather put the question of age even more in the limelight than it already is.  Perhaps this helps the younger candidates more than anything else?

It will also certainly highlight the importance of a VP pick, assuming Biden/Warren/Sanders get the nomination.

Yeah, ironically weakening the Trump/Pence ticket - an oldster starting to creak with a VP who's religious to the point of mania

Now he's had two, maybe he'll stop attacking the top "one per stent"....

How the fuck?..... I came here to post this.... Google search not one story over 70 minutes old.  Your post 9 hours.  Do you KNOW Sanders or summat?

And as a point of contention.... please post the deceased's NAME (Rainè Riggs) so they can be searched.  Thank you for participating.

I've just seen a clip of him on Twitter and he seems to have aged quite drastically (maybe lost weight) since I last saw him a year or so ago, whilst I don't think he is in any danger he's one I'd keep an eye on.

How's his brother doing? 88 and likely to OQ in his own right due to being a Green Party spokesman for 5 years and candidate several times over...

Files paperwork to run for re-election in 2030.

At which point he'll be 88/89, or dead.

Or maybe he'll be a floating head in a jar, like in Futurama?

Currently he seems well enough to run again but he really shouldn't. I do find it fascinating how long some American politicians cling to power and stay in office, in terms of the House of Representatives 13/435 (2.9%) are over 80, whereas in the UK only one of the 650 MPs (0.15%) in the House of Commons are 80+.

Filing paperwork to run again is pro forma. It allows them to do various things legally which only campaigns can do. It does not indicate that he plans to run again. This is a dog bites man story.

I agree. He's previously said it's unlikely he'll run again.

I remember Dianne Feinstein doing the same thing in advance of the 2024 campaign, which she obviously did not end up living long enough to see.

Bernie was the last Senator in the 2024 cycle to make a decision to run for re-election. I'm pretty certain this is his last term, he's not a lifer. He'll retire in his 80s like his longterm colleague Pat Leahy.

He will be 89 at the end of his term.Cant imagine he would want to carry on until he is 96.That being said he does seem incredibly cogent and active still so you never know.

Working until your late 80s is insane though. In no other profession is this not absolutely extraordinary My Grandad retired at 70 in 1992 and that was really unusual at the time.He had a desk job so it wasn't physically demanding but he was still an anomaly in his community.

Having any job when pushing 90 is strange.Even if you are great for your age you are still not going to be mentally agile to the highest extent.Age will diminish you by that point.I mean you want experienced people but there is a limit.I once worked with an 80 year old .He was exceptional for his age both physically and mentally but he had to retire.Iy was a manual job so it was hard physically but he was just too old and it was way too much for him.

Well he will be 89 at the end of his term which is significantly above US life expectancy. On that basis I would say he is a lifer along with McConnell and Grassley.
