And she has now filed paperwork to run for another 6-year term in 2024 at which point she'll be 91...

Former Vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana, George Benneh, insists on voting in spite of being frail, 86 years old, in a wheelchair, and hardly being able to speak:

He also had a short spell as finance minister.

Plus, his younger brother Emmanuel, also a professor, was recently killed, and that's in the news, which almost made me think that it was George Benneh, who was voting, and dead:

I guess I really have to start picking "The Love Boat" captain Gavin Macleod soon.

Let me see.... he recently sold his house in the desert:

https://variety.com/2020/dirt/actors/gavin-macleod-finds-buyer-in-the-desert-1234731764/

He was an alcoholic:

https://www.closerweekly.com/posts/gavin-macleod-the-love-boat-128315/

But well, that's it..

...I also had to realize that basically the whole main cast of The Love Boat is still alive. Well, that would be one Scavenger Hunt category settled, if I win.

Dead

Ah, hell no! He seemed to do well enough to last a while yet...

Btw, obviously "Cast of the Love Boat" would be one of my Scavenger Hunt categories. But the team has already lost his captain.

Edit: Woops, I already mentioned that in my post quoted above...

Edit: Also, is this the second time in two weeks where I should have read my own posts more?

Journalist Carol Gould is still struggling financially and health-wise according to her GoFundMe page. However, Wikipedia has the following:

Quote

In July 2021, Gould re-joined the BBC NewsUK/BBC World News roster of live newspaper analysts. She will be delivering a lecture to the Benjamin Franklin House London in the autumn about Franklin's astonishing immune system in an era of epidemics.

Latest Gofundme update (6 Jun): "Carol has suffered from 4 1/2 years of relentless Stage 4 cancer treatment and the absence of regular professional earnings." It also says that she is too frail to move from her home. Yet a month later, she is back working for BBC? I don't follow British media so you guys probably know better.

She's not a BBC staff member, she's someone they go to as an interviewee on News 24 sometimes. I couldn't have picked her out of a crowd. The gofundme appears to be more to get people to buy stuff for her house than about the cancer, which is apparently under control?

It is intertwined. It is mentioned many times that she needs money to be able to pay for housing expenses because her cancer treatment is costly. Also because her ability to work as much as she wants has been debilitated.

Depends on what under control means here. The cancer is not in remission because the page uses present tense phrases like: "is now suffering with", " dealing with the pain and discomfort caused by harsh chemotherapy and cancer", " heavily involved with complex cancer issues", "too frail to sell her flat", "has suffered from 4 1/2 years of relentless Stage 4 cancer treatment" and "she's on morphine 24/7".

Or maybe she's actually fine and just wants a nicer home. :P

Edit: Didn't realize that I was in the 2021 suggestions thread. Arghton's thread bump confused me, it's like reading last week's newspaper. :scratchhead:

She actually gave an interview after @The Old Crem posted this, appearing in the VE Day 75 BBC doc in 2020. Predicting death by “last active/last appeared in” can be tricky but yeah, TOC had a good inclination on this one.

The VE Day 75 documentary was a repeat from the 70th in 2015 I think.

Just in case you forgot about her, she gets front page coverage at Sports Illustrated. The cancer is currently under control.... until it isn't:

Apparently, she has quite a health history.

Yes, I am updating...

...and also, Vice-Admiral Thomas Baird apparently already died in 2019 off the sonar - picked by Stiff Upper Lip.

For completeness, his death has now been reverted on his Wikipedia page.

This is a death notice for his wife, and it's from 2009 – not 2019. Sir Thomas Baird is still alive and will be 98 next year.

Alexandre Despallieres, who is a murder suspect in the death of Australian millionaire and recording executive Peter Ikin, is apparently so ill...he might not make it to court:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8371831/Murder-charges-11-YEARS-death-Australian-multi-millionaire.html

Supposedly, he has Aids and multiple brain tumours... but he's also a bit of a shady person, so... decide for yourselves.

Alexandre Despalliers died last month, before his trial (while the article is from June, there are earlier articles from February):
