The posts that followed started getting a bit, shall we say, similar to the zombie thread. That started out as a death of a football club and got really out of hand. I don't really want this one going in the same direction.

If manufacturing is such an irrelevance, how come China's done so well? The blind luck was North Sea Oil, without it she would never have got away with it. Shares in utilities and council houses were sold on the cheap. Now we have nothing left in the cupboard to flog... Not sure how many Western manufacturing workers would be happy with China's rates of pay. Been here before methinks. USAmerican Channel, USAmerican writer, New Zealand Director - it certainly won't be a British series that's coming back. Some people really are just sad obsessive fuck wits. RIP to the greatest peacetime PM this country has ever seen and to a hell of a woman. Reviled and revered for the exact same reason ultimately - because she made decisions which she felt were right for this country, rather than decisions which seemed easy, the latter of which many politicians are well too guilty of.

Still, Thatcher's funeral will be a great opportunity for deadpoolers to spot the frail and not-so frail as well as noting any absentees, so keep 'em peeled...

Blair asks to show some respect rather than have parties to mark Thatcher's death. Wait until you pop yer clogs, mate!

Apparently the funeral will include a "procession through London". When I heard that, I thought it could mean one of two things. Either they're going to wheel her coffin around on a cart, or Bernie Ecclestone finally got the go-ahead for that London Grand Prix he's been after for a few years now.

Many years ago when I worked in a pub I was told never to discuss politics or religion with the customers. Today the amount of arguments (discussions) between friends on Facebook who have opposite views has been quite fascinating. One pair of friends who have known each other from childhood have now hidden each other's posts as they will never agree., they have agreed to reopen communication once it is all over. I really don't think anyone else in my lifetime has been so divisive. I can see both points of view, for some she came along at the right time and they have done very well under her policies, for my family she was a disaster, the 1980's were sheer hell for us. I am sure I have posted details of our struggles on this site before. I fall firmly into the camp that is happy to see her gone but I will not be drawn into arguments about it, it has all been done before. I respect that lots of people think she was great but I ask that they respect my right to hate the woman. As I posted on my Facebook page today 'We all have differing opinions and are each entitled to our own views'. I will not be commenting further.
