is that because Lee was a tory supporter or what? No, it's because a vampire's image doesn't show in a mirror. He who takes something apart to find out what it is has left the path of wisdom. I think Gandalf said something like that to Saruman (keep it topical) but the thing it applies most to is.... .... A Joke

Maybe his support for the Conservative party helped his portrayal of an evil bloodsucker - some people can take method acting too far.

The strain of it all will probably finish the GrandMother of at 81, but if it's true about Bobbi Kristina being unresponsive and being like this "forever" she could still be like that in 50 years time, if she lasts that long it will make Zsa Zsa's time as a coffin dodger seem like the blink of an eye though knowing the Prinz he will still have Zsa Zsa clinging on in 50 years time. Seriously though why do there families keep people like Bobbi Kristina and Zsa Zsa 'alive' it is cruel and serves no purpose at all. I do have personal experience of this. My brother was knocked down by a drunk driver while on holiday in Spain. After some considerable time in intensive care, he was declared to be in a Persistent Vegetative State, essentially uncomprehending and unable to carry out any motor functions. My parents were asked if they wished to take him off life support. They said no, for various reasons. He then went for rehab (after some heavy fundraising, after all this was Thatcher's Britain at the time) and he certainly demonstrated some comprehension and even got to write his name, all after being written off by the doctors. It therefore becomes harder to look that person in the eye, on the one hand noting their physical incapacity, but somehow also knowing that they have some comprehension of you discussing them, their care etc etc. (a kind of locked in syndrome). It was hard going, eventually being cared for at home by my parents who gave up their jobs to become carers, and when my mother passed in 2013, I gave up my job to look after my dad and brother. We had some assistance from professional carers, some family friends, some from companies who all grew to love him. He laughed, he cried, yes he had fits and illnesses but he was a real person who gave us much joy and much heartache like any family member. He died in January this year after over 20 years of incapacity. Whether it was the right thing to do, whether he would have wanted to live as long as he did in the way he did, we shall never know. Everybody's circumstances are different, but I think his life wasn't purposeless. The times I have thought what it might be like to live like that, some days I say no, some days I say life is too precious and fragile to throw away. These folks will be going through similar things, whatever decision they make, however this girl responds, we should respect that (and gather points at the relevant time).

Long long ago, sometime after man learned how to make fire and use the wheel there were people wondering why the fuck some of them could swan around in sheepskin loincloths and mammoth skinned footwear when most were lucky if they could manage to wear rabbit skinned attire....

The new song might e affect Rolf's parole bid: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-06-15/alleged-harris-letter-should-lead-to-parole-review-lawyer-says/6545282 He could be paroled as early as autumn 2017, but that's dependent on clear remorse and being reformed. So, whether the board listen to the solicitor for his victims or not, Rolfie's done himself no favours with the song. The parole board won't wobble.

I don't blame the few footballers who earn millions for accepting those salaries. I rather see that money end up in their bank accounts than those of the club owners. It does, however, seem disproportionate that those footballers earn more in a week than most hardworking people in a lifetime, for a job in entertainment rather than something productive.

^Who are these people that can kick a ball really well? I know there's like that one Argentinian guy in Spain or something but AFAIK that's about all...

There's rich through inheritance, and there's rich through being "self-made" by having a profession that happens to pay extremely well, this may depend upon your talent or on luck or perhaps both. Either way around it is something of an "accident of birth". For instance I personally fail to see that being born into this world with an ability to kick a ball around better than most should immediately confer millions on you, whilst being born with a caring nature and a desire to help others does not. You could in fact be rich through either inheritance or "work" and still support the idea of a system with a more equal sharing of blessings, at least so far as I can see, not that it seems many do.

FWIW on the topic of pictures, if you still are keeping pictures for those who died I was able to find an image for Henry "Nap" Botterell since I saw he was one of two on the 2003 deaths page to have the question mark next to him (no luck with the other one, Sidney Wiltshire): Source here

So you have to be poor to be 'left-wing'? It's possible to be fiscally conservative, but left-wing on social issues. In the US most people who are rich (with the exception of film stars) are right-wing. Purely because they support policies that the Republicans and Tea Party candidates put forward which are things like tax breaks for the high income set. There's a greater rich-poor divide here. I fail to see the irony at all. Personally i'm left-wing and I was just as upset as I've always admired Christopher Lee's acting and also his approach to acting. Naturally if you've been working for as many years as he has, made a name for yourself that people are going to want to go to see a film because you're in it, of course he'd have earnt himself enough money to afford 3 flats in some well-to-do areas of London. Perhaps he rents out a couple of them and uses the rent as additional income. The ones i have no respect for are the ones who rather than being self-made millionaires who built their fortunes from nothing, have just inherited the money and treated those around them like shit.

What about the grandson Winston Churchill (very imaginative these nobs), MP for Davyhulme and Stretford, died in 2010 Indeed, he was a DDP score for me. Another of his grandsons, Nicholas Soames is or was an MP.

I'm seeing them at Wembley next week, and I am literally PISSING MY PANTS WITH EXCITEMENT. Royal Blood and Iggy Pop are supporting, this FILLS ME WITH JOY. I have seen the Foo Fighters twice before, and both times I had to sit in a pile of my own urine all the way home. I would totally let Dave Grohl ruin me. Could be that your knickers may remain dry for the moment... SHUT UP! I have literally just this minute told my boyf that if he was any sort of man at all he would ENSURE that they do not cancel on me next Saturday! Yer man Grohl is a trouper, mind. Returned to the Swedish stage in a fucking wheelchair. You may still go to the ball Lardy.

Mac Maharaj is suffering from lung cancer. When he was in prison he transcribed Mandela's autobiography, The Long Walk To Freedom, and smuggled it out to publishers in 1976. I reckon that might be enough by itself to get him a UK obit.

The big summer of famous deaths? B.B.King, John Nash, Christopher Lee and other people who were very good at what they did, and many people consider them to be famous, but aren't REALLY famous because 90% of today's uneducated society has never heard of them. I bet at least 90% of people know who he is!

And now they have married. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/british-couple-become-worlds-oldest-newlyweds-at-combined-age-of-194-10318867.html They say they will spend the rest of their lives together. They all say that, but after 7 years, well, you know what they say.....

Oh aye, and - apparently - the pope is about to come out strongly in favour of more distribution of wealth and the whole of mankind making global warming more of a priority. Outside chance of a plane crash then, followed by years of conspiracy theories.

I know some are being silly here, but I'll speak more seriously. I always suspected I'd die due to some digestive tract issue, for reasons no one needs bother with. About 16 months ago my outside of my left leg went numb and I suspected a pinched nerve, but doc recently said no, it's a detached vein. I have a few recent vericous issues in that leg as well. Also, it all came to the light when I had very sharp and quick pains in the area of detachment. That said, I'm on my feet most the time (when not in a pub) and it's really not slowed me yet. Anyway, I suspect I'll die of a circulatory problem and at some point I'll stroke out and follow up w a heart attack inside of two years, and all that before I'm 60. I'll be 52 this month. Stop ye fahkin cheering! SirC

John Entwistle's death seems like a good one- heart attack whilst bingeing on cocaine with a prostitute. Although personally I'd prefer an obscure and mysterious death in about 20 years time at the most. Like Rod Hull you mean?

Maybe not. There are a lot of contenders for the Republican nomination... Ted Cruz, Rick Santorum, Rand Paul to name a few with the biggest shots... not as obvious as with the Democrats, where Hillary Clinton is definitely going to get the nomination. Also, maybe it's time to make a thread for the 2016 election in extra-curricular? We have the London Mayoral election before that but I suppose the primaries will begin in January. The trouble with the Republican race is that from outside they mostly look like a bunch of nut jobs. Jeb Bush looks at least vaguely electable and has a hispanic wife. Out of all the Republicans, I'd prefer Jeb Bush. He seems the most moderate (least wacko).
