This DL exist already since 30 Years, starting point was 1987. In all these three decades only one italian made it into the official list (Producer Dino De Laurentis), what a shame..... Thats how I woukd suggest some notable Italian for next years DL: - Gina Lollobrigida, 89 years, film diva, she has serious health Problems (pneumonia) - Ennio Morricone, 88 years, film Composer, he retired and had farewell concert last January - Silvio Berlusconi, 81 years, heart surgerys after attack - Franco Zeffirelli, 94 years, Director (Romeo & Juliet, Jesus from Nazareth)

Thanks for the welcome. Seeing the mention of the lack of Italians caused. me to think of Sophia Loren as well as Clint Eastwood (due to his movies with Sergio Leone who is already dead)

Morricone is still active and performing though, he has scheduled tour dates all the way to mid-October.

Others worth considering Tinto Brass,84 who in 1979 Directed the infamous Caligula and is pretty fat Monica Vitti,85 who has had Alzheimers for almost 2 decades

There was another one on the inaugural list, Andrea de Cesaris. I do agree with your general point though, Italians should have more representation.

Gregg Allman? The health issues were clearly there, he was clearly famous enough (being the lead singer in one of the most acclaimed bands of all time) and canceling the rest of his 2017 concerts ala Merle Haggard pretty much sealed his fate. Plus, considering his cause of death was apparently liver cancer, the Mayo Clinic treatment makes a lot more sense now. Besides the two true bonafide misses (ala Berry and Pirsig), the only other one so far that I may count as a miss is Don Rickles.

Your welcome @gcreptile although @Book looks like he could be pretty handsome too under that colourful disguise! More seriously though I wonder whether another convention of sorts will ever happen again?

Speaking of Chilean first ladies, the woman who succeeded her as Chilean first lady, Leonor Oyarzún is turning 99 in 2018. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonor_Oyarzún

"your matriarch" No, that would be Queen Sylvia and Princesses Victoria & Madeleine. God bless all 3 of them. Pointing out that Teresa (ain't calling her 'mother' this time) was evil has nothing to do with liking Diana.

RIP .... no one can deny his rockin blues singing chops. Great artist, great loss. SC (Edit: Oh and of course he's 69, right in that 67-72 range they're all dying in. Egad.) (Edit2: I haven't researched liver transplants per se, but seems just thinking about it that 7 years is a pretty good push after having one. I wouldn't bet more than 5 in most cases. But maybe the numbers prove me a fool).

Ok, new to the forum but I have a few suggestions. Eric Idle Micheal Palin Terry Gilliam John Cleese Terry Jones Carol Cleveland I know, they're all Python cast members. One or more are due. Here's my not quite a long shot one Eddie Vedder The rest of the big Seattle grunge bands have all lost their singers after Cornell. Only Vedder remains. Donald Trump His blood pressure is through the roof. He can't hack it in his current position. It's gonna cause him to have an aneurysm.

Got a visit from John Major and the Singing Cadets. IMHO, he looks like a cartoon character when a strong wind is blown at them with the skin around the eyes jiggling and all that shit.

So, we need 15 hits to get the record. Can we do it? 3 already dead of course, none of whom were dead-certs at the beginning of the year. We have at least 4 dead-certs. Leah Bracknell, Gord Downie, Errol Christie all have cancer with a grim prognosis. There's also King Michael, who might have not that bad a cancer, but is nearly a centenarian and extremely frail. We should get all of them. We have some people who aren't that old, but extremely frail from dementia/Alzheimer's and the sort. Tony Booth, Nobby Stiles, Jill Gascoine, Glen Campbell, John Noakes. It's always hard to predict the life expectancy of these people, but they're all (if I recall correctly) in the late stages of Alzheimer's - the can't dress themselves, no idea who or where they are, pants-shitting stages. We should get at least 2, and that's a conservative estimate. Another category is people with cancer but it doesn't seem that grim. However, they're both pretty old. Gay Byrne and Ian St. John. We might get 1 of them. Then there's just the frail oldies. Kirk Douglas, Vera Lynn (although she's not as frail as the rest), Billy Graham, Peter Sallis, George H. W. Bush, Pope Benedict, Bruce Forsyth, Desmond Tutu, Ian Brady. I think 4 is attainable. That means we only need 1 more to reach the record. This will most likely be a rando, like Javier Perez de Cuellar or Herman Wouk. We should get at least 1 rando. Bam! Record broken.
