Went to a combined Burns night and Chinese New Year last night. A Chinese Burns night, I wasn’t keen on going, but they twisted my arm.

I have noticed that it has apparently become de rigueur to describe any death as sad. People have suddenly stopped reporting simply that "X has died", it's always "X has sadly died". I find this annoying because it's a thoughtless cliché. Sometimes people are happy to die, sometimes it's a blessed release, sometimes it's actually good riddance. Just stop it.

I had nowt to do with Shot in the Dark's theme team status for the record. But you know, given Reptile had to fix a coding error in the site that'd been around for a decade or so, that was buggering up the website loading, from scratch, I think the priorities were right for 2020 to just get it done.

While the coronavirus is certainly very serious, the death toll appears to be quite low, and most of the ones dying are elderly or very young children. Of the thousands infected, only 55 confirmed dead so far. Apparently, the fatality rate is only about 5%, so the vast majority will recover. A lot of social media is making references to Captain Trips of The Stand, or the influenza outbreak of 1918, but this one will probably end up being overhyped. Then again, when dealing with diseases, it's better to overhype and to be safe than sorry.

Normally I would spare Sir Creep a and a Like of his post because that seems to keep him happy but basically ignore whatever crap he is spouting (I've therefore given his post a like to calm him down ) But just to support msc post as a Committee we pretty much decided we needed to get through the first year process without changing anything and the precedent had already been set for an All Male Theme being acceptable and hence All Female too.
