Not sure if this thread is for the ‘least impressive celebrity’ ENCOUNTER, or LEAST IMPRESSIVE CELEBRITY ‘encounter’. [clearly it’s the former, but I need a place to post this, so I’m conveniently interpreting it as the latter]. Came across this 1-person graveyard in the middle of the woods, on a side slope of a hill trailing down to a stream. Pretty cool/odd/interesting. Frederick Bloman was apparently a local judge (grave is in Farmington, MI) for around 18 months, so my offering as my least impressive celebrity (encounter). SirC (Edit: Found THIS cool article speculating the likelihood that those are Pewabic Pottery tiles (!) on his grave. Also tells a story of a character-turned-judge. Awesome stuff).

Obituary for Colin Tully who has died aged 66 from cancer: https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/jul/14/colin-tully-obituary Provided the backing (saxaphone) for Logan on What's Another Year, fast becoming a cursed song. Tully also did the music for two notable films, That Sinking Feeling and Gregory's Girl.

Everybody was great in The Deer Hunter. I liked him in The Dead Zone - his type of role - he is very believable as a 'normal' person who becomes slightly unhinged.

"A view to a kill" was pretty good, but it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. The cast did a good job in the film... with a great and spectacular Grace Jones. But the plot could've been better. Christopher Walken was the first Oscar winning actor to play a main villain in a Bond film. In my opinion... his best film is "The deer hunter". An extraordinary film with a truly awesome sequence... the three prisoners forced to play Russian roulette while their captors gamble on who will... or will not... the survivor... really impressive. Great film with stellar performances, Christopher Walken and Meryl Streep coming off best. And Walken won his Oscar for this role.

Today is day 195. Even if we got hit eight today we would still be behind 2013 (13) and 2015 (14). However the Eighth hit in 2017 (17) did not come until 8 August. I am thinking 12/13 hits in total.

Brian May's basement in Kensington was flooded, and many of his fond relics were destroyed. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/brian-may-kensington-home-london-floods-b945455.html The main contributor to the floods seems to be all the rich people building basements. Brian also has a massive mansion in Surrey, which was almost destroyed in a forest fire last year https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/brian-may-house-saved-wildfire-surrey-a4521331.html At the time he said "the forest fire is still smouldering less than a mile from my own house and studio, and the fond relics of my entire life. Today we were able to begin to thank the amazing firefighters who risked their lives to contain this huge and treacherous wild furnace on the heath land of Sunningdale Golf Course - which actually adjoins my property. Yesterday, I was rescuing as many precious things from my house as was practicable, under threat of the whole thing going up in flames, but praying that the horror would not happen. " So it looks like he moved his fond relics to his Kensington basement for safekeeping ... and they are now covered in sewage. Brian also has well documented health problems, including a recent heart attack, and being hospitalised for ripping his glutes while gardening. And all of this is in the last 18 months. Poor Brian. How much can one man take?

Mufti Faizul Waheed, Indian islamic scholar who translated the Quran to Gojri language also died today at 56 from multiple organ failure. He had COVID before and was treated for pneumonia. Apparently a respected figure.
