4 pointsAlright, where were we? There was a bit of a slump in the DDP, though not really all that much. Still, I was also sick for two weeks and so the hits kept slowly accumulating.... this is going to get busy... First and most of all, we've just had the almost universal pick George Perez as a big name in this competition. YoungWillz gets an interesting unique hit with James Anderton, as written above. Three people score with longtime frail Kenyan president Mwai Kibaki. The Daredevil gets a hit with french actor Michel Bouquet, that was a fine selection. An Fear Beag scores big twice with Mosharaf Hossain Rubel and Mike Bossy, very, very big, congratulations. Bossy was picked by other players, too. And Mosharraf Hossain was also picked by a player who I'm not sure is still in the game (also picked by that person was Michel Bouquet). Some players get points for Kane Tanaka, not many points, but they do - hey, three points is better than zero! Two players score with centenarian US music executive Art Rupe. And last but not least, three players score with ice hockey legend Guy LaFleur. Well, that careful checking of the past month also showed me that Kenny still needs points for centenarian British dancer Henry Danton, sorry! ALSO, TorvaMessor gets unique points for Conrad Janis who received a New York Times obit back in March (also Yahoo IIRC). Tracy Kashi is a non-obit for me, I think I have to rely now mostly on these "Other Lives" Guardian obits that drop in 3-4 months late, but I might have to accept that this is a world in which Belinda Sykes and Tracy Kashi do not obit. Yorkshire Bank is also sitting on a non-obit with Sonny Caldinez, and I'm not sure if there is hope. SalmonMousse is still waiting for an obit for Belgian singer Arno that counts. Let's see, but maybe a year-end roundup is the best remaining chance. Kenny also placed a bet on ancient polish runner Stanislaw Kowalski, but he sadly isn't getting anything. Alright, you picked people all across the globe and from all kinds of fields. I hope this update covers at least most of it, if not, tell me. The resulting scoreboard shows a small switch at the top, it's the change of Guy LaFleur vs. Mike Bossy - funnily enough, two North American Ice Hockey legends. 4 pointsAs an aside, wondering if we need to have a post here every time someone turns 100? I'd understand if it's for someone notable worldwide, but even announcing everyone who turns 100 and has an English Wikipedia page seems to be untenable. At the moment, this thread seems to be more "people turning 100" than "centenarian death announcements," tbh.

1 pointQueen Victoria did fuck all for much of the last 40 years of her reign because she was too sad. She also didn't have to worry about wankers on internet forms looking at the pictures and concluding that she needs the wheelchair because she has pancreatic cancer...

1 pointRichard Nixon died on this day 28 years ago, aged 81. Today's interesting subject fact: Nixon considered having a domestic political opponent killed while he was in office. In 1972, investigative journalist Jack Anderson was targeted for assassination by senior White House officials (these were Watergate's E. Howard Hunt and the late G. Gordon Liddy). Anderson consistently wrote negative articles focusing on White House-related scandals, and Nixon stated "we've got to do something with this son of a bitch". A mole was sent to Anderson's office, but Anderson's secretary removed them from the premises due to suspicious activity. The CIA also surveilled Anderson, but were chased away by his children, and mocked the agency's incompetence. As these didn't work, the officials decided assassination was their last option. They decided to either smear a lethal dose of LSD on the steering wheel of Anderson's car, place poisoned drugs in his medicine cabinet, kill him in a car crash, or stage a mugging... then spying on the Democratic Party's HQ became the top priority, and the idea was aborted. Anderson died in December 2005 at the age of 83, 11 years after Nixon.
