He’s a relative of mine. We have good longevity on that side of the family. I’d expect David to be around for a while yet.

Bragg has a book out so he's done a very brief and, I warn you, uninteresting interview with The Guardian: https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/jun/11/melvyn-bragg-my-daughter-conducted-my-marriage-service- Here's the last couple of lines though: Melvyn Bragg’s memoir, Back in the Day, is out now: £21.75 at guardianbookshop.com. Samaritans can be contacted on 116 123 (UK/Ireland) or email jo@samaritans.org Surely his book isn't THAT bad....

After the two quick hits in April the pro rate rate climbed to 15 hits but following a very slow period the expected run out is now 9 hits For comparison the record breaking year of 2020 at this stage in the proceedings we were at 9 hits already and the 10th would come before the end of June I still think there might be a cluster of hits but I am not getting the feels from anyone in particular that would add to the tally However I do not think there have been many huge misses so far

There are a few pictures that are allegedly from recent years such as this one, possibly taken in November 2019 However I would not be suprised if she has died and her death has gone unnoticed as I doubt Russian media would report her death...

Could have gone in a few threads, but this seemed a decent catch-all. The Television Academy YouTube channel regularly posts interviews with industry figures talking about their lives and careers. Their most recent participant is The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and NCIS star David McCallum. It's a Zoom interview conducted from his home, and he's looking pretty decent for someone turning 89 in a few months. Posture not great and he seems a little tired/bored/grumpy at times, but he's mentally all there and dresses smartly. Looks like the handle of an exercise bike on the left of frame too, so possibly still keeping himself physically active. Here's David reminiscing about his childhood, including getting bombed by V1 and V2 rockets: https://youtu.be/lqrN2i1E7o4

Charles Haughey died on this day 16 years ago, aged 80. Haughey was first elected to the Teachta Dala in 1957. In 1979, Taoiseach Jack Lynch resigned, and Haughey won the leadership election 54-46%. He was sworn in on December 11. During his first term as Taoiseach, Ireland faced an economic crisis, and he attempted to fix the problem by increasing public spending- this spiraled out of control, and Fianna Fail (his political party) lost their majority in the 1981 election to a coalition between the Fine Gael and Labour parties. The party regained control in 1982, and Haughey began his second term as Taoiseach. Financial mismanagement ensued, and Haughey lost an election in November of the same year. Haughey was then entrapped in a wire-tapping scandal the following year. Despite this, Haughey refused to resign, and Fianna Fail gained minority leadership in 1987, becoming Taoiseach a third time. In a 1989 election, Haughey failed to achieve a majority vote for Taoiseach, and was constitutionally forced to resign- he held off on this, and instead became Acting Taoiseach. After Fianna Fail and the Progressive Democrat parties formed a coalition government, Haughey was reinstated as Taoiseach. Haughey finally resigned in 1992 following the revelation that Haughey authorized the aforementioned phone scandal. More scandals regarding Haughey arose, including embezzlement in 1997, and an affair in 1999. Haughey was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1996, and his first appearance on the DeathList was in 2002. He would appear again in 2004 and 2006, and was the sixth death (out of thirteen) of the year.

Thanks for remembering her, @Gooseberry Crumble. "The Horse Soldiers" is my favourite western. She's John Gavin's widow, too. The handsome and virile actor in the mold of Rock Hudson of "A Time to Love and a Time to Die", "Imitation of Life" and "Psycho".
