    This is actually an important point. Many people when they are close to dying, decide to return home to spend their last days because it's what they want. My own great grandfather did the same thing as well.

    On this day 9 years ago in 2013 american singer, guitarist and songwriter Lou Reed died aged 71 of liver disease. He was the principal songwriter and singer with group Velvet Underground but also had a hugely successful solo career. His songs include Walk on the wild side, Perfect day, Satellite of love , Vicious and Sweet Jane.

An acting Oscar and best foreign film Oscar. Oscar nominated british actor Peter Firth, best known for his roles as one of the spy chiefs in BBC espionage drama Spooks, celebrates his 69th birthday today. Peter was nominated forcan Oscar for his role in 1977 film Equus.

    Lula da Silva, the controversial and popular Brazilian politician and founding member of the Brazilian Workers' Party who was the 35th president of Brazil between 2003 and 2010, is 77 today. He was born to illiterate parents who migrated to industrializing Sao Paulo. Lula da Silva did not learn to read until he was 10 years old and quit school aged 12 to work and help his family. In 2018, he began serving a 12-year prison sentence. But the Supreme Court annulled the case, citing procedural errors. Lula da Silva is also a survivor of throat cancer. Simon Le Bon, the charismatic and phenomenal British lead singer and lyricist of one of the most iconic and popular pop/rock bands of the 1980s, Duran Duran, is 64 today. The successful band sold over 70,000,000 records (albums and singles) worldwide. The best-selling album by Duran Duran is "Arena", which sold over 3,024,000 copies.

    This is not an attempt to sabotage this song - music is very much a personal taste thing - but I was unfamiliar with this record when I saw it on the list and I've now listened to it 4 or 5 times to try and 'get it' but I can't (it just never seems to get started) which makes me even more surprised it is flying so high on the list. I'm sure no one can make me like it but wonder what it is that makes it enjoyable for others?

    I've got '72 & '73 even in terms of those I'd vote for (6 each) but '73 is ahead in those I'd vote against (8 as opposed to 6 for '72), with the rest being those I have no strong feeling either way (5 v 3).
