9 pointsDeathrace Form Guide #10 diego Continues to like every post despite frequent uproar. Personally, I have nothing against that, it just seems a wee bit pointless if the website already keeps track of unread content for one. However, others disagree. Will diego give in to the peer pressure protecting them from sanction? Will their account see the coming year? Will they outlast it?

6 pointsThat could have gone into the ideas and possibilities thread and we also have a Nobel Prize thread.

5 pointsWas trending today on french Twitter but couldn’t find out Why. Anyway here is a somehow « new » picture of him. Seems to be weelchair bound and have lost some weight even on his latest journal de bord from 5 days ago, he seems frailer than on the previous one from the 22/10. I wouldn’t drop him next year, seems to be degrading.

4 pointsGeorge Booth (wiki), prominent cartoonist with the New Yorker magazine, supposedly dead at 96. Edit doesn't look like vandalism, but there's nothing on their site yet (I suppose it is still the middle of the night in the States though, so maybe in 12 hours there will be). Mentioned once before in the Happy birthday thread by @Hell.

4 pointsI can't fathom how much of his time he's wasted liking over 6000+ posts which seemingly happens 24/7. Does he ever sleep? Fascinating creature. I want him to post a selfie.

4 pointsDeathrace Form Guide #12 Harrison Ruffin Tyler A long time ago, a forgotten 19th-century US president had a shag in his final years. A son came out of it, and said son too had a shag in his final years. The end result is Harrison Ruffin Tyler, doddering on as a living relic of history. Now has no memories of his grandpa due to suffering from dementia. And the whole "died 66 years before he was born" thing.

3 pointsHealth-related tweet by him: https://mobile.twitter.com/THEJamesWhale/status/1587524499137855489 He seems to follow my former B-Team pick John Dabell. I dont really think that Dabell is going to get anywhere near an obit.

3 pointsI would say Georgia Holt is more famous than Bill Gates Dad. I remember her being interviewed by Clive James alongside Jackie Stallone and she has been a guest on Drag Race

3 pointsI don't find it annoying as much as it just confuses me. Why would you need to react to a post to know you have read it? Can't you remember you read it? And wouldn't you just need to mark the most recent post?
-
3 pointsPope Benedict XVI, Jimmy Carter, Henry Kissinger, Bob Barker and Leslie Phillips feels like a decent top 5 for 2023 IMO if they are still alive untill new year. I wrote them down in non-specific order also.

3 pointsI want to be with you next year, I've been looking for a site like this for so long, with subjects I like, I wouldn't want to leave

3 pointsDeathrace Form Guide #13 Carolyn Bryant Donham The woman partially responsible for the lynching of Emmett Till back in 1955, and one of the few remaining "villains" of the civil rights era. There have been recent attempts to bring her to justice, but it has also been reported that she had cancer and was receiving end-of-life hospice care at the beginning of August.

3 pointsDeathrace Form Guide #11 Takamiyama Daigorō My yearly Sumo-related suggestion for your lists. Born Jesse James Wailani Kuhaulua in Maui, Hawaii, Takamiyama Daigorō is a sumo wrestler known for being one of the first foreign sumo wrestlers and the first foreign-born Sumo wrestler to win the top division championship in July '72. He even received a congratulatory letter from POTUS Richard Nixon, read out by the US Ambassador to Japan. He broke a ton of other records in Sumo too, one example being that he was the first foreign-born wrestler ever to take charge of a training stable in 1986, but his probably most interesting record was that he was the first sumo wrestler to weigh over 200kg/450lbs. As shown in the picture, during his sumo days his trademarks were his sideburns and bright orange Mawashi (Sumo loincloth) and due to his appearance and traits he became a widely known figure in Japan even to those who did not follow Sumo wrestling. In 2009 he reached the Sumo Association's mandatory retirement age of sixty-five and handed over the running of his stable to Ushiomaru Motoyasu (1978-2019). Now 78, Takamiyama Daigorō is quite ancient for a sumo wrestler and needed two sticks to walk when he attended Ushiomaru Motoyasu's funeral in 2019. He was rumored to be in declining health in 2010 and social media rumors say he has lost a ton of weight this year.

3 pointsDeathrace Form Guide #9 Ruth Buzzi The Laugh-In comedienne was born in Rhode Island, which is in fact not an island and was the last of the 13 colonies to ratify the U.S. constitution. Keep in mind that if you pick her to 23 skidoo in '23 she might hit you over the head with her purse.

2 pointsWhere the fuck has 2022 gone to? Apparently it's the 1st November already, so time to set in motion another Crowdsourced Deathlist. The 2022 version looks set to finish ahead of the official Deathlist (though they lacked the help of Gary Burgess). 2022 has seen a massive clear out of many long term Crowdsourced favourites, from Mr Tibbs to the Queen (and never mind Olivia Newton-John, some of you liked Her Maj too), so let's see how a new crop of fresh names does. Will the 2023 edition be able to top our current list? We will see, but for the time being let's go over the rules, shall we? THE RULES Rules 1. Please send a list of celebrities you wish to vote for to msc, during the time period of 1st November to the 31st December 2022. The list must have a minimum of 12 names on it, and a maximum of 50. Yes, this means we are open now, as I'll just forget to officially open it otherwise. For more evidence, note I actually opened this on the same day as the Deathrace thread after aiming to for half a decade and forgetting, so that's my ration of time keeping used for another decade... Please send them by either PM or via Shadow List thread, not by email, semaphore, Morse code, Deathlist live chat, animated corpses, text messages, or any other means of communication you can think of. And you may only submit via 1 of those two methods above, NOT BOTH METHODS! 2. Your 1st choice will gain 50 points, 2nd 49, etc etc to 50th which will gain 1 point. This is true even if you only send in 12 names, or 13 names, or 49 names. 3. When the deadline passes, all of the points that an individual celebrity gain will be added together, and the top fifty celebrities with the most points overall will go on the Utterly Unofficial Forum List. 4. Feel free to add substitutes at the bottom of the list, which will only be counted if one of your fifty die before January 1st 2023. If for example your number one pick is such a smart one they die before January 1st, then I will give 50 points to your 2nd pick, and so on until 1 point is given to the first substitute. 4b) Anyone who wishes to avoid a Betty White Meltdown and just says "oh put my subs in at the number of the person who died" gets 5 post likes from diego. 5. Do try to make the picks as "Deathlisty" as possible. More Jean Claude, less Miguel Van Damme, if you know what I mean. Someone likely to score an obit with one of the major English language news outlets. 6. The deadline for sending in entries is 31st December 2022 at 9 pm GMT. That's 4pm New York Time (31st December) and 8am (1st Jan) Melbourne time to help out non-Brits. This earlier deadline is so there's enough time to complete the list before the new year as well as enjoying some extra time off as well. I am keeping Joey's earlier cut off time for simplicity. 7. This is essentially a forum game without a winner. It does however put the longheld notion by some that the combined minds of the forum know better than the Committee to the test. 8. Who picked whom will remain anonymous. Unless the person announces it of course. 9. The paranoid probably shouldn't send in their DDP unique hopefuls. Whilst I do not intend to steal them away, it would make no sense: if the person then showed up on the list, their chances of being unique would be very slim indeed! 9b. If you do wish to send your DDP unique hopefuls, I won't complain! 10. To keep to the Deathlist spirit, only the top 25 ranked celebrities from the current list of Crowdsourced Deathlist 2022 survivors will be used: Pele, Jimmy Carter, Frank Field, Leslie Phillips, Pope Benedict XVI, George Alagiah, Bob Barker, Glynis Johns, Henry Kissinger, James Whale, Linda Nolan, Harry Belafonte, Joanne Woodward, Shannen Doherty, Tony Bennett, Milos Zeman, Rosalynn Carter, Yoko Ono, James Watson, Barbara Walters, Norman Tebbit, Francoise Hardy, Bobby Charlton, Dick van Dyke, Norman Lear, Jiang Zemin, Douglas Hurd, Jake the Snake, Jacques Delors, Jean Marsh and David Graham. As usual, this is something for me to worry about, not you. 10a) Our actual collated list will stick to the "25 from the previous year" rule. 10b) As a result, if our top fifty, after all votes have been counted, has more than twenty-five of the 2022 survivors (named for ease in Rule 10), then the lowest ranked excess survivors will be axed from the list in favour of The Fifty-First ranked celebrity and so on... 10c) Since we don't know if that'll be an issue until I actually do the counting, voters don't need to worry about limiting their personal lists to 25 survivors. It'd be nice if they did, but that's life. 11) Please pick living people. Folk do die before 1st January, but there were a few cases of people dead for a number of years chosen last time. Please do not pick animals, or ISIS prisoners, or kids, or any of the usual no go areas. 12) The Deathray Rule. If Deathers is reading this, he is more than welcome to find some way to get his usual 50 points for that bloody weatherman in! Anyhow, enjoy. Or not. Pope's never die, only the actors who play them... (It's a Simpsons gag.)

2 pointsDiego has dished out 6221 reactions in just under a month. With a little bit of effort on our parts, I believe we can get this number to 1000000 before the end of the year. EDIT: 6241 now... getting closer...

2 pointsFFS spending post after post complaining and whining... Anyone bothered by the user in question can spend less than a minute using the ignore function on the user which solves all your issues. You are not helpless in this - use your Forum given rights and stop bewailing, complaining and making snide comments time after time...

He also spent time with the Bengals, Saints, and Chiefs. John McVay, former head coach of the Giants and general manager for the 49ers, dead at 91. Grandfather of current Rams head Coach Sean McVay. 2 pointsWe’ve seen worse soon-to-be 96 yo men to be honest, but I must say he is unrecognizable. I wouldn’t be surprised if he dies before 2023, but at the Same Time I can see him reaching 96. It’s difficult to say based on a single photo but he does look frail (even though I would have guess he would look worse). I would be shocked if he’s not picked for 2023. another photo from the Same shoot apparently

2 pointsWang Huo makes a rare appearance and looks pretty great, even though he again looks like a completely different person than a few months ago: And still not one of them dead. Zhang Lixiong, Yang You, maybe also perennially ill politician Luo Gan deserve a spot on next year's list IMO. Founding Major General Tu Tongjin has no English wikipedia page but he's also been very ill for years and permanently hospitalised, and is now 108.
