6 pointsNot necessary, we know you are not able to break such big news. EDIT: evil and unneeded. Am I turning into Ulitzer?

6 pointsDavid Bowie was an icon and a genius, and Space Oddity doesn’t show that off enough IMO. It is a novelty more than a masterpiece; an interesting concept more than an enjoyable listen. Both Heart of Glass and I Feel Love are definitive songs, true icons of new wave and disco. HoG, as a couple of others have said, isn’t even my favourite Blondie song, but fuck me it’s good and its influence is laced throughout the subsequent 45 years of music. On a personal level it takes it, but Donna Summer is definitely a worthy winner.

4 points(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 30 - Benedict XVI's condition remains stable and the ex pope is still attending Mass in the former monastery in the Vatican where the ailing 95-year-old German cleric lives, sources close to him said Friday. Benedict XVI's health remains "stable", according to reports from sources in the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the wake of Pope Francis entreaties to pray for his predecessor's worsening condition. At the moment no further details have been leaked other than that the Pope emeritus continued Friday morning, in his room and despite the difficulties of a still serious clinical picture, to attend Mass, concelebrating it with his long-time assistant Mgr Georg Gaenswein and simply wearing a light stole over his hospital gown. The four memores domini Vatican officials and the nurse Brother Eligius continue to form around Ratzinger, who is being kept under constant medical supervision by his personal doctor, a cordon of continuous security and assistance, the sources said.

3 pointsGrigori Rasputin died on this day 106 years ago, aged 47. There lived a certain man in Russia long ago- it is believed that he was an unruly child known to steal horses and drink alcohol. In 1897, Rasputin left his home village to go on a pilgrimage, and in 1900, built a makeshift chapel at his father's house. He was known for his charisma, and gained close ties to the local clergy despite rumors of non-celibacy, and then with the aristocracy. In 1905, he had his first meeting with Tsar Nicholas II- he was likely introduced as a faith healer who could heal Prince Alexei of his hemophilia. When the young prince suffered internal bleeding in 1907, his mother (Tsarina Alexandra) summoned Rasputin to pray for him, and Alexei recovered the next day. Alexei would then suffer from a hematoma in 1912, with Rasputin sending a letter telling the doctors not to bother him; Alexei recovered within two days. In 1914, a woman attempted to stab Rasputin to death, but he survived following surgery. Felix Yusopov, the husband of a Russian princess, believed that Rasputin had too much influence on the royal family, and gathered other men of higher standing (Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich and politician Vladimir Purishkevich) to help him assassinate Rasputin. After Rasputin had been invited to Felix's mansion, they laced his cakes and tea with cyanide. Rasputin seemed unaffected, asked for some wine, and drank another poisoned glass- still not dead. Yusupov then went upstairs, got his gun, and shot Rasputin- while inspecting to see if he was dead, Rasputin then leaped up, attacked him, and then ran upstairs and outside. Purishkevich delivered the shot that killed Rasputin, in the mansion's courtyard. Oh, those Russians... In 1928, Yusupov published his memoirs about the event, and Rasputin's daughter Maria sued him and Pavlovich for $800,000; the case was dismissed, as she sued in France and they had no jurisdiction.

3 pointsDispelé The Inverse Dead Pool 2022 waited until March 30 to see its first hit. Now it's December 29, we're on hit #15, and we'd be lucky for it to be the last. It's a dribble, not a sprint. Brazilian footballer, 1,279-time goalscorer, and one of two players to jointly hold the FIFA Player of the Century accolade Pelé has died at the age of 82. It's a pity that I'm far too busy with my own deadpooling at this time of year to flesh this out into a meaningful obit, because it's such a minor death that will surely go otherwise unremarked upon in the global press. I mean, his poor little name is only four letters long, so who will even notice? "Pelé has died" barely even registers as a complete sentence. People will just think you've got the hiccups. Among Pelé's many achievements is being this year's 4th least popular Inverse pick – most of you score nil today. The few exceptions are: 1 point apiece for @Newjack and @msc; 22 points for former Inverse Dead Pool champion @BabyBlue, who I can only assume has decided to turn their talents to scoring an own goal record; 3 and 8 points respectively for machotrouts' mum and Pedro67's wife, who conveniently don't have accounts to tag and shame here; and 2 points for @YorkshireBanker, one of two players to jointly hold the FIFA Inverse Deadpooler of the First 362 Days of the Year accolade. That breaks the tie at the top without any need for a tiebreaker, and surely confirms @Sean as this year's champion. ...unless, of course, he happens to have 5 points banked on the ailing Pope Benedict XVI... It's going to be a long final 50 hours. GAINED TOTAL = 1. Sean 25 ▼ 2. YorkshireBanker +2 27 = 3. Joey Russ 33 = 4. Sideik 35 = 5. Pedro67 36 = 6. Banana 37 = 7. ThereWillBeDeaths7 41 = 7. 2 pointsWelcome to the second Kill or Save on DeathList! I feel like the first round was popular with the #1 hits of the 70s and now everyone is open to the 80s. Well, you didn't want it any other way! “Kill or Save” is all about finding the best or the favorite song within one topic. Initially, each song has 20 points. To increase or decrease the number of points, you can award 4 points and subtract 6 in each round. Deduction and addition of points can vary, e.g. add 2 x 2 points or subtract 2 x 3 points. Important: You can only vote once a day to keep it fair. Yes, I know it might get a bit confusing due to the different time zones we all live in, but I'm just appealing for fairness and honesty. So please only vote once a day! You always have to use the last vote as a guide. For a better overview, please mark your voting (e.g. + 2, + 4 or -3, - 6) and classify the song according to its current value. Here are the UK-No.1-songs of the 80s: We start with the years 1980 and 1981, then 1982/83 and so on. Form each round 5 songs will enter the last round, the Grand Final, consisting of 25 songs: 1980/81: 43 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Final 1982/83: 38 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Final 1984/85: 33 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Final 1986/87: 39 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Final 1988/89: 37 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the Grand Final In the Grand Final, the “best” UK No.1 song of the 80s will be chosen by the DeathList forum users!
