Tommy Hilfiger, the renowned American fashion designer and philanthropist, a pioneer of classic American cool style, whose sensational career in fashion began as a high school student in 1969, well known for his own label, with their iconic blue, red, and white flag logo, is 72 today. María Valverde, the wonderful Spanish actress, one of the most interesting Spanish actresses of her generation, who made her big screen debut in 2003, who won a Goya Award for her noted performance of a student in "La Flaqueza del Bolchevique" ("The Weakness of the Bolshevik") (her first film), who gained international popularity for her work as Zipporah in Ridley Scott's epic "Exodus: Gods and Kings" (2014), is 36 today.

True, Blur’s had a bit of a resurgence. I’m quite glad tbh; Country House is far from their best but it mugged Oasis off so deserves points just for that. Any of the four fighting for third and fourth I’d be happy to see through (yes, even Tax That, though I did just score it down for lols)

It seems quite likely that he'll be the next of the Arab spring (autumn?) topplers, but will he suffer the same fate as Saddam and Gaddafi or that of Ben Ali? Saleh's in a similar position, but could step down before he's brought down. I suppose Mubarak's somewhere in the middle for now.

Yes, in lieu of the ongoing health battles of this icon of French, Hollywood and British cinema, it’s time she gets a thread.

Top Freudian slip moment in the 7-30 news summary on Radio 4, in discussing the lack of filming on a new series of Top Gear and the (rumoured) departure of the injured Freddie Flintoff from the show, the newsreader accidently referred to it as Top Gore! Maybe an accident/maybe the show's infamous history of poor safety has earned it a BBC nickname that slipped out.

I’m glad Tate doesn’t have cancer. I won’t cancel my monthly direct debit to Cancer Research after all.

Aye, he's done well to recover this much from his illness but he'll have issues for life. Still, one on the list of names I could never pick for anything (msc jr would kill me!) so hopefully he wont be troubling other deadpoolers for a while yet.

Great to hear the indestructible June Spencer back on The Archers tonight after a 9-month covid-19 enforced absence. 101 years old and still lighting up the show.

Sweeps should be by the hour if not 1/2 hour. I'll say 9:45pm local time (Detroit, EST). That's 4-3/4 hrs from now.

Boots are now charging their customers a "delivery charge" if they order goods online and collect them from a store. That'll really attract customers away from the competition, won't it!

Too bad it wasn't strangulation then she would have better appreciated the torture she put her daughter through. For once, I actually agree with you BC! Will you still agree when you've read this? Federal authorities confirmed Wednesday that an arrest has been made in the unsolved 1996 slaying of JonBenet Ramsey. Federal law enforcement sources said a suspect is in custody in Bangkok, Thailand, where he's being held on unrelated sex charges I'm still a bit dubious about the recent arrest. I still in some way believe that the parents had something to do with it. It's just the whole thing with the rather lengthy ransom note that was left at the scene of the crime. Unless they are able to match the handwriting then I'll be proven wrong. But what killer sits down to pen a long winded ransom note, unless it was written well in advance while the family is asleep upstairs?
