Well they go even faster than I thought... cause Bernard Uiling (100) died last month (this is the only mention I can find, wasn't picked up by any media). Looks like Ellis Brandon is the last then. She'll turn 100 in 4 days. (It's odd, neither Museum Engelandvaarders nor the Ministry of Defence seems to have a list of living Engelandvaarders, the Ministry did say Bernard Uiling was 'one of the last'.)

Roger Ebert died on this day 10 years ago, aged 70. - Ebert's first review was for the 1966 Georges Lautner film Galia, which he gave two-and-a-half stars (out of four). Over his 46 years in film criticism, he reviewed over 7,000 movies. - Ebert was primarily known for his scathing reviews- particularly those for Caligula, North, and Mad Dog Time. Conversely, his favorites included Casablanca, Singin' in the Rain, and Goodfellas. - Ebert first teamed up with Gene Siskel in 1975 for a Chicago public broadcast station, and their show was called Sneak Previews. This would soon be picked up by PBS, which they left in 1982 to make the show At the Movies. Following Siskel's death in 1999, Ebert would partner with rotating co-hosts that included Martin Scorsese (Ebert was the first critic to review Scorsese's first film Who's That Knocking at My Door). - Ebert would also venture into filmmaking himself, writing the screenplay for 1970's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls- this was given 0 stars by Gene Siskel, but has since gained a cult following. Ebert was also involved with the production of the cancelled Sex Pistols film Who Killed Bambi? - Ebert was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2002, having it removed that same year. He was then diagnosed with salivary gland cancer in 2003, went into remission, and was re-diagnosed with it in 2006. He nearly died from surgery, which left him unable to speak (yet did not appear on DeathList 2007). These surgeries continued through 2008, and by 2011, his face was damaged to the point where he needed a prosthetic chin: Ebert was hospitalized in December of 2012 following a hip fracture, and died four months later before he would be released into hospice care (definitely a list miss).

Tomiichi Murayama makes rare public appearance and actually looks great. Not as great as he did over a year ago, but great for 99. I expect he'll outlive Manolic, Cesar YU (if he's still alive - I'd say there's a chance he'll die off-radar), Siphandone & the other 1924 cohort and become the undisputed oldest living state leader. But those three and Carter have proven to be very tough.

He is DeathList favourite Clive Dunn, the very first No.1 on the DL and was for a long time considered immortal until he eventually died in 2012, aged 92. The picture is used as a way of telling people that the contents of a post have been duplicated (that it has already been "Dunn").

There's a Jimmy King photoshoot of David Bowie that circulates widely as the last photographs of him. They get posted with the claim that they were taken on his birthday in 2016, two days prior to his death, but there is no evidence to suggest this - they were simply published that day on Bowie's social media channels and were likely taken in 2015. Anyway - here's the last photo of Bowie we can be sure of. He's leaving the Lazarus premiere on 7 December 2015, his first public appearance in a long time and of course his last too. Great smile despite how ill he was.

Peter Werner (Wiki), American film director dead at 76 from heart complications. In 1977, Werner won the Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film for directing the short film In the Region of Ice. Since then he worked on primarily directing television amassing a number of television film credits namely Mama Flora's Family, Two Mothers for Zachary, Call Me Claus, I Married a Centerfold, Gracie's Choice, Mom at Sixteen, Tempting Fate, among other films including Front of the Class (2008).
