4 pointsKing Magnus VI of Norway died on this day 743 years ago, aged 42. - Magnus became the heir apparent to the Norwegian throne after the death of his brother Haakon in 1257, and became king in 1263 after his father Haakon IV died fighting King Alexander III of Scotland over the Hebride Islands. - In 1266, Magnus agreed to allow Scotland to keep the Hebrides and the Isle of Man, in exchange for a vast amount of silver and paying Norway yearly (kind of like rent). - In 1274, Magnus introduced a national law code to supersede regional ones, somewhat revolutionary for the time. Among the laws introduced included that crime was an offense against the state and not the individual, increased his judicial powers, and established how the line of succession would go. - Magnus was the first Norwegian king to officially number themselves- he called himself "Magnus IV", but did not count Magnus II (r. 1066-1069) nor Magnus IV (r. 1130-1135, 1137-1139). - Magnus became ill in the spring of 1280 and planned to crown his son Eric II as co-king during the summer, but died before he could do so.

2 pointsBut his eating habits are terrible. His usual McDonalds order consists of something like 4 burgers and a milkshake. Obesity is just as bad as being a chain smoker, kinda wish it had the same social stigma.

1 pointA fully-visual topic, for once. A gunman killed a reporter and cameraman while they were doing a live news report in Franklin County, Virginia, Wednesday morning. CBS News confirms that WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker, 24, and videographer Adam Ward, 27, were killed. The incident took place at Bridgewater Plaza in Franklin County. Parker was interviewing Vicki Gardner, head of the Smith Mountain Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce, when gunshots begin to ring out. Parker and Gardner are seen running away while the camera appears to be dropped. SC

1 pointI didn't think Anne implied that Charles was still of the same opinion though. But I might have missed something. I take "royal correspondents" with a large pinch of salt because most of them seem to have agendas of their own. I don't know about the Yorks - have they offered to work? I think Beatrice might be able to do it, but not sure about Eugenie as weren't they supposed to be moving to Portugal for her husband's job? tbh she comes over to me as a bit charmless, but IMBW. That is utterly ridiculous ! Who was this twat, and who does he suggest they get rid of? Social media is obviously a useful supplement to Royal activity, and it will have a wider reach, but it can never take the place of personal visits and contact which mean a lot to people and boost morale. I don't think most people realise how much of this goes on because most of it doesn't get reported.

1 pointthe mysteries around Yvonne Aimée de Malestroit's miracles : a lot of people (around 150) claim she had the ability to "bilocate" which means she can appear at two places at the same time. Some of these cases are well-documented and a lot of "scholars" tend to believe in it. I don't understand how scientific for example can believe in it. The Vatican refused for a long time to talk about it and to take this case in account because it was "too much" but a new case has been deposed for the beatification of Yvonne. What do you think the "bilocation" were ?

1 pointAmerican basketball coach Lou Carnesecca is now 98 years old which is the age I was hoping he would make it too which was the age American comedian Carl Reiner passed away at. I am also hoping Carnesecca will surpass Reiner at the time of his death, but I am not saying that Carnesecca will definitely make it to 100. So, Carnesecca is on my list for 2023 which is this year.

1 pointIt is real and you better prepare yourselves! Governments should take early measures, before it's too fucking late! You realize it's like fucking hell here? I assure I'm not paid by the media to do alarmism. This is not a common flu and if you other European countries underestimate it you will have hundreds or thousands of deaths too.
