Joan of Arc died on this day 592 years ago, aged 19. - Joan was born as Jeanne d'Arc to a peasant family. The Hundred Years' War had been going on for 75 years when she was born in 1412. - In 1425, when she was 13, Joan had a vision of the archangel Michael, and fourth-century saints Margaret of Antioch and Catherine of Alexandria. - Around this time, people began to spread a prophecy that an armed virgin would save France- some cited the fictional wizard Merlin as to who made it (the stories of King Arthur were considered fact at the time). - In 1429, Joan met King Charles VII- she had to dress in drag in order to do so, and she would wear men's clothing for the remainder of her life. After the confirmation of her virginity, Joan was provided with armor. - Joan designed her own battle banner: - Joan led several battles against the English and the forces of the Duke of Burgundy from 1429 to 1430, most notably at Orleans, Reims, and the capital city, Paris. - Joan was captured in May of 1430 by Burgundian troops, and made two attempts to escape. The English paid her ransom to transfer her into their custody, and moved her to their main base of operations in Rouen. - Joan was put on trial for blasphemy by the English- this was essentially a kangaroo court, and the English bribed the judge by paying him. Joan was sentenced to death and burned at the stake. Her remains were tossed into the Seine and never found. - In 1455, two years after the end of the Hundred Years' War, Pope Callixtus III allowed a posthumous retrial, in which Joan was exonerated. - Joan was made a saint in 1920 by Pope Benedict XV.

Someone showed me a video of him out in public recently absolutely spaced out of his mind. Don't believe the stories in the papers about this man being "better", I promise you he's not. They just got him to pull it together enough so they could get him back on TV with Dec. 48 this year. One of those "won't see 60" types.

I'm pretty certain that his Labour successor, David Lepper, would have been equally as confident of Labour retaining Brighton Pavillion in the long run. Then the Green Party swooped it out of nowhere. The Greens got 2% in that seat in 1997. Caroline Lucas took 57% of the vote in 2019! It's simply part of the political game for MPs to talk up their party's chances in order to enthuse ppl. Though admittedly it sometimes comes across as pathetically silly i.e. Jo Swinson claiming she was going to be PM in 2019 then losing her seat...

CeeLo Green is 48. Instead of one of his songs such as "Crazy" or "Forget You", here's his appearance in the American Dad! episode "Hot Water".

Milt Larsen, also a magician and "creator" of Magic Castle has died at 92 as mentioned elsewhere. Henry Lewis MBE from last page died in September at 102. Seems like he got no obituaries anywhere, but was also not picked anywhere here.

So, the ITV documentary makes clear his daughter had major resentment to him, though largely because she'd become convinced that him shagging her teenage best mate was consensual, and only happened when her friend was of consenting age. The friend - "A" in the documentary - doesn't appear. Her psychiatrist has been given permission to discuss what happened, which includes the friend developing a problem with alcohol as a result of the damage done by Rolf. Something else in plain sight is the quality of his home - Bray in Berkshire, bordering the Thames - and daughter Bindi's likely the sole heir, and clearly whilst he went to jail the vast tonnage of the property and money stays in the family. S'cuse the cynicism but whatever distance she puts between her dad and herself she likely doesn't want to mess with that situation.

I'm the weirdo here that prefers Yellow Submarine over Eleanor Rigby, Yellow Submarine reminds me of my childhood and my dad singing this song to me.

Just wanted to share with you all, an interesting thought I had. If you go back and look at a chronological list of the oldest person ever recorded, you will see that Mr. Geert Adriaans Boomgaard was the first person to make it to 110. Since then, most of the titleholders have been women, and no one has even come close to challenging the record since Jeanne Calment. It's been nearly 26 years and no new titleholders. If a man were to break the record today, as Boomgaard did when he turned 110 back in 1898, this man would be the first man to reach the ages of 117, 118, 119, 120, 121, and 122. An incredible achievement that I don't even have words for. I want to know what you think. Will some future man break Calment's record, and we will once again have a male titleholder as the oldest person ever recorded? Will we ever even see another man in the top 10 oldest ever?

MMMDP Form Guide #20 Ruth Langford’s Mother You may have heard from a certain mysterious avatar-less account (Eamonn Holmes?) that Joan Langsford may be a hot pick for deadpools going forward. With Joan Langsford currently in her 90’s and in a carehome with dementia, perhaps it’s time to start taking the ramblings of user Deathrow66 seriously.

There are others (Ivan the Great (Ivan III) of Russia - 510 years; Abu'l-Fath Jalal ud-din Muhammad Akbar (Akbar I) Mughal Emperor - 410 years; Ernest Eldridge - 80 years; and Xavier Cugat - 25 years), but you already posted the only important one. SC
