6 pointsWell, there was enough of a demand to do a 2000s KoS, so here it is!!! Welcome to the sixth edition of Kill or Save here on the Deathlist Firstly, I'd like to thank Book for hosting the previous 4 KoS & to TQR for hosting the 70's No.2 Hits game that's going on simultaneously, I know that some users will probably ignore this game and that's okay, it was decided beforehand that we were doing UK No.2's next, so this is for the users that voted for this option or are simply interested in learning about 2000s music (and considering how many No.1 hits there were in this decade, TQR might've already started the 80s No.2's game when we finish this one!). You probably already know the rules, but here they are. Each song starts with 20 points. Every day you can add 4 points and subtract 6 from any song (you can split them however you like, e.g. 23 Generic Rock Band- Rock Song +3, 21 The Very Very Famous Musicians- Very Very Famous Song +1, 14 Splinky and Sploinky- Sploinky -6) To avoid any confusion, please mark your scores after the song title & update the respective songs point total. When voting, always use the latest scoreboard as a base. You can ONLY vote once a day, since we all live in different parts of the world & timezones get messy, please add the date of your vote at the top of your post (e.g. 2/7/23, Sun 2 Jul, 7/2/23, etc., anything that makes the date of your vote clear). Here are the UK No.1 songs of the 00's: There are 5 qualifying rounds, we start with the years 2000 & 2001, then 2002 & 2003 and so on. From each round, 4, 5, or 6 songs will enter the Grand Final, consisting of 25 songs: 2000/01: 72(!) songs= the last 6 songs will enter the final 2002/03: 52 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the final 2004/05: 57 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the final 2006/07: 41 songs = the last 4 songs will enter the final 2008/09: 51 songs = the last 5 songs will enter the final In the Grand Final, the "Best" UK No.1 song of the 2000s will be chosen by the Deathlist users. 2000/2001 (no second chance for Westlife's I Have a Dream) 20 Manic Street Preachers- The Masses Against the Classes 20 Britney Spears- Born To Make You Happy 20 Gabrielle- Rise 20 Oasis- Go Let It Out 20 All Saints- Pure Shores 20 Madonna- American Pie 20 Chicane ft. 3 pointsKing Adolf of Germany died on this day 725 years ago, aged 43. - Adolf was the son of count Walram II of Nassau. When his father died in 1276, Adolf became the count; a title he would hold until his own death. - In the late 13th century, Adolf became a member of the royal court of king Rudolf I. Rudolf provided him with lordship over several castles. He would also become involved in the local politics of the towns his castles were in. - Rudolf died in 1291, wishing for his son Albert to succeed him (at this time, Germany elected its kings, rather than it being fully hereditary). However, Albert was unpopular among the electors (largely due to territorial disputes), and Adolf would be elected king in May of 1292. He was largely chosen so the electors would have more power amongst themselves. - In 1294, Adolf would form an alliance with king Edward I of England against France (due to their attempts to conquer the kingdoms of Burgundy and Flanders). He would issue a declaration of war against king Philip IV of France later that year, but forfeited in 1295 when Pope Boniface VIII threatened to excommunicate him should war break out. - Adolf was also known for seizing the Margravate of Meissen from its margrave, Albert II (the direct 19x-great-grandfather of Queen Elizabeth II), considering it to have been abandoned to to the death of a cadet branch of the House of Wettin. - In 1298, the electors turned against Adolf in favor of Albert (largely due to his activities in Thuringia), and he would be deposed in late June of 1298. Adolf believed that only the pope had the authority to depose a king, and thus gathered troops to fight Albert. Eleven days after being dethroned, Adolf met Albert's forces in battle at Gollheim, and would be killed:

1 pointBecause there is no thread for Vietnam war vets yet (surprisingly) and the Medal of Honor recipients I'm mentioning here right now all served in Vietnam and not Korea, I have to give the update here. So Roger Donlon being the immortal that he is, attended another event just last month and I found a short video clip of him at that event. His Parkinson's looks to be worse than ever, hands constantly trembling through the video and it seems like he's barely able to move and talk at this point. I also managed to find somewhere that recipient Jose Rodela is now frail and suffering from dementia and heart disease so you might want keep an eye out there. Clarence Sasser has become frailer too and isn't able to walk without mobility aids.

1 pointChiam See Tong given an unique lifetime achievement award at a Red Dot United gala. Too ill to attend of course. He's suffered from Parkinson's for decades, health history of atleast three strokes (1989, 2008, 2009), hip injury (2013) and other ailments. On the other hand - from the 2022 Class - Wang Huo (heart attacks, pneumonia...also had an intracranial hemorrhage in 1983) apparently looks amazing: He's 99. His best friends are 94 and 108. I think they know something we mortals don't.

1 pointWhich, despite denials from the Bloomberg source, means that his breathing at night has gotten worse than it once was - enough that his doctors probably told him to use one. I don't think he decided to use it on his own (perhaps simply because he was too busy to think so, as any president would be with an election campaign, a war in Eastern Europe, and a dozen other issues to deal with).
