Oh so that's why I haven't heard much of George Alagiah lately.

I liked the chap who wrote the book which claimed the conspiracy had bumped off a Pope, Mafia dons and a President, yet somehow the same murderous conspiracy kept that author alive for 50 odd years to tell the tale! I mean, it was probably Oswald (with added help of some panicked friendly fire in the chaos which has been covered up). Yet for me, the Who Killed Kennedy conspiracy theory misses out on the whole far more interesting conspiracy for me. Why did Lee Harvey Oswald do it? Who put him up to it? We'll never know because a guy connected to the Mob silenced him soon after. Mafia? Deep state? Bobby Kennedy? A Marilyn Monroe fan with money? Castro doing the old Tito on Stalin revenge? That's where the fascinating conspiracy is, and we'll probably never know the truth.

And of course, now I discover this thread after posting in Conspiracy theories! Maybe like Elvis' thread we could mark him as dead and move to the actual Forum? I mean, there's claimants, witnesses and Oswald's widow still alive. I'm still in disbelief that Cyril Wecht, forensic pathologist and consistent critic of the magic bullet theory, is still on the go.

Ernest Borgnine died on this day 11 years ago, aged 95. - After graduating from high school in 1935, Borgnine joined the US Navy, and was honorably discharged in October of 1941. After Pearl Harbor, he reenlisted, and served until the end of World War II, where he would again receive an honorable discharge. - Having no idea what career to pursue after that, Borgnine's mother encouraged him to take up acting. His first role was in a 1947 production of State of the Union. - In 1951, Borgnine made the jump to TV, starring as a villain in the show Captain Video and His Video Rangers. A casting agent for Columbia Pictures saw him, and he soon made his film debut in The Whistle at Eaton Falls. In 1955, he would star in Marty, for which he would win an Oscar for Best Actor. - Borgnine would return to television, taking the title role of McHale's Navy in 1962. In the 1980s, he would also star in Airwolf opposite Jan-Michael Vincent. - To younger audiences, Borgnine is best known as the voice of Mermaid Man in SpongeBob. His sidekick Barnacle Boy was voiced by his McHale's Navy co-star Tim Conway: After his death, Nickelodeon reran every episode he guest starred in. - In 2009, Borgnine would be nominated for an Emmy for his role in the final episode of ER- aged 92 at the time, he is among the oldest people to receive an Emmy nomination. - Borgnine debuted on the DeathList in 2007, and made his second and final appearance in 2011.

British actress Eileen Bennett is either 103 (according to IMDB) or 104 (according to Wiki) assuming, of course, she hasn't died off radar. Her son is Nicholas Hammond who played Friedrich von Trapp in The Sound Of Music.

She seems decent but isn't given stuff that plays to her strengths. The main writer - Chris Chibnall - is one of the worst on TV (he also did Broadchurch which was horribly written too). Subtle as a sledgehammer to the nuts.

That is not true. The word 'gaudy' is much older than that, it's in Shakespeare. Comes from the Latin gaudere, meaning rejoice/celebrate, I think. Those A levels not completely forgotten According to the NGRAM viewer https://books.google.com/ngrams/graph?content=gaudy&year_start=1300&year_end=2000&corpus=15&smoothing=3&share=&direct_url=t1%3B%2Cgaudy%3B%2Cc0#t1%3B%2Cgaudy%3B%2Cc1 gaudy first appeared in written form in 1578 which is around Shakespeare's time but before his plays were first published.
