Personally, I find the "Kill or Save" threads far more annoying than anything that Diego posts. I'd much prefer 10 posts a day about obscure Eastern European footballers than 50 posts a day to decide the second best song from 50 years ago. At least they are about dead people. But that's just me However, both KoS and Diego are very, very far down on an extremely long list of "Things that piss me off on a daily basis", so I generally find it very easy to ignore both and get on with life.

With Al Quie's death, Merwin Coad of Iowa is now the only living person to serve in Congress during the 1950s. As such, Coad is the last Congressman to vote on the admission of Alaska and Hawaii, the last from the creation of NASA, and the last from the Eisenhower presidency. He's an, uh, interesting character Buckley's death leaves only two Senators still alive who served prior to the election of Joe Biden in 1972. They are Fred Harris of Oklahoma, and Bob Packwood of Oregon. Those with long memories may recall that Packwood is, like Coad, also a rather scummy character.

Not really. The oldest senator, congressman, federal judge, and governor did though.

Cross posting here as I think it’s significant enough. Potential Second Lady in 1964. There are now no presidential tickets or spouses living from before 1976. This seems to have gone unnoticed on here. Stephanie Wagner Miller, widow of Congressman and Vice-Presidential candidate William Miller, died back in July, aged 100. Also the mother of her namesake: a daughter Stephanie who is a liberal radio host. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/washingtonpost/name/stephanie-miller-obituary?id=52559100

I don't normally like quoting myself but somewhat coincidentally Alda's co-star Wayne Rogers died exactly a year later. I don't think any Swedish actresses died at the same time though. Two years later (but I keep going to write 2015 myself so I don't blame you)... however, early in January 2015, Anita Ekberg died. So that sort of counts? Just a passing thought.
