Thread for former US Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, now 81 years old: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitch_McConnell Lately, he's been freezing in front of cameras and just today, it happened again: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/08/30/mitch-mcconnell-freezes-struggles-to-speak-in-second-incident-this-summer.html He also suffered a fall last year, and had a suspiciously swollen and reddish hand. There might be all kinds of blood circulation issues, maybe a series of mini-strokes. Seems like he might beat Dianne Feinstein to the punch. He's also a little more notable than her, having presided over the Senate for six years, and being responsible for changing the Supreme Court, by blocking Obama's judges, and basically inventing the 60-seat filibuster, meaning, if you want to get something done in the Senate, you need 60 votes now.

Dee Bradley Baker is 61. You may know him as the voice of Klaus from American Dad, Perry the Platypus from Phineas and Ferb, Bubble Bass and Squilliam from SpongeBob, Numbah 2 and Numbah 4 from Codename: Kids Next Door, or Daffy Duck in Space Jam- though he has literally hundreds of voice roles:

Dodi Fayed died on this day 26 years ago, aged 42. - Dodi was the son of a billionaire (who is currently occupying the #45 spot on the list), and the nephew of another (Adnan Khashoggi, subject of the Queen song Khashoggi's Ship). He was also the first cousin of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi. - He was also the CEO of film production company Allied Stars (founded by his father), and he was listed as an executive producer on movies such as Chariots of Fire, Hook, and F/X. - Early in 1997, Fayed was engaged to a woman named Kelly Fisher, but dumped her for the then-prince Charles' ex-wife Princess Diana- Fisher planned to sue him for breach of contract, but dropped it following his untimely death. - Dodi and Diana were killed in a now-infamous car crash trying to get away from the paparazzi, partly due to the fact that neither of them were wearing seatbelts. Since then, Dodi's father Mohamed has suggested (and continues to claim to this day) that this was all intentional- particularly alleging Prince Philip as the mastermind behind the conspiracy.

Fuck sake - there's something seriously wrong there, looked like a petit mal seizure, or summat - for a few seconds there he literally didn't seem to know where he was

It's easier to get the British monarchy to abdicate than to get a US Senator to retire seemingly.

According to the Daily Record John Cleese has developed bowel disease, and has thus had part of his colon removed; which he is now going to auction to fans. So if you've already got Graham Chapman's ashes on your mantlepiece, this is a chance to increase your collection.

I'm sure, at some point, America will realise that politicians don't need to be two-hundred-and-forty-fifteen years old.

Ok you know what the conspiracy theories about elites being able to slow down their aging, are no longer theories.

Impressive. As far as I'm aware there's a recount underway in Uxbridge. Which means it close, doesn't say who's in front/who's asked for the recount. Loving the slippery slope argument you're making too.

I still remember my worst slip of the tongue ever on here. When the 1926 "who will be the last surviving" type poll was set up, I went with U.S. evangelist Tim LaHaye, commenting how fit and active he was for 90. Shortly afterwards, he had a massive stroke whilst playing golf and died. That was embarrassing.

The swines , tell me where you work and we'll get all the mods together and sort them out. It's OK thanks. I'm working on a plot to poison them .... maybe add a little something to the Cornish fudge I'll be bringing back. We were in Cornwall last week - if you go to Lizard Point there is a brilliant little cafe attached to a gift shop on your left as you get there - the most amazing puddings and homemade cakes I have ever seen in my fat life. I heartily recommend it. Thanks for the hint! I'm a fan of puds & cakes too.
