3 pointsPeter Stumpp died on this day 434 years ago, aged 54. (I remember I told his story last Halloween- so here we go again for those not here a year ago:) - Peter Stumpp's name might not have even been that- one of the names attributed to him was "Abel Griswold", and some believe that "Stumpp" refers to the fact that his left hand had been cut off (which was witness evidence used in his trial that I'm about to talk about). - In 1589, Stumpp was put on trial for allegations of werewolfery. During it, Stumpp confessed (probably after being tortured) that he had been willingly transforming since 1564, when he was given a magical belt by Satan (wearing it turned him into a voracious, bloodthirsty werewolf, and him removing it changed him back into his normal human self). He is sometimes referred to as the "Werewolf of Bedburg": - Stumpp stated that he first feasted on livestock such as goats and sheep, and then moved on to consuming human flesh. He reportedly devoured 14 children and tearing the fetuses of 2 pregnant women out, particularly stating that he enjoyed eating their hearts. Stumpp also claimed to have eaten the brain of his own son. - Stumpp was also accused of having committed incest with his daughter Sybil, who would be executed alongside him. - Stumpp's execution was quite grisly- he was tied to a wheel and flayed, his arms and legs were smashed, then he was beheaded and his body burned. His head would be put on top of a pike with his breaking wheel and a small statue of a wolf as a warning to others potential werewolves.

2 pointsGullis is one that I'm really looking forward to seeing losing his seat. He'll 100% storm off in a huff too

2 pointsYeah, bring it on - Loftus Road is an agreeable day out for the London Branch of Carlisle's support - last time there we won 2-0 in the League Cup. Looking forward to that League One clash next season

2 points"Lumberjack DJ" Ad-Rock (of the Beastie Boys) is 57. Here's a mashup of one of his songs that's fitting for today (the ending is a bit weird):

1 pointI did pretty much the same as of a couple years ago, and it’s all I can do to throw a DDP team together when I don’t pay attention any more - not in a meaningful competitive way. I actually enjoy the theme teams even though they rarely get a hit.

1 pointThank you and my apologies for the inconvenience, @Toast. My corrected list is ready for the next now.

1 pointhttps://longeviquest.com/2023/10/fuji-takashima-dies-at-112/ Great Kanto Earthquake survivor Fuji Takashima died at 112 this week, very surprising considering she gave a full interview a couple months ago and was shown walking with assistance (which is pretty rare for Japanese supercentenarians) https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2023/10/28/stuntvrouw-godelieve-109-uit-lo-reninge-is-overleden/ Third-oldest Belgian Godelieve Voet dead at 109 https://thestarphoenix.remembering.ca/obituary/sophie-foster-1088972237 Oldest resident of Saskatchewan dead a week before turning 109

1 pointI exactly feel the same way about The Office. Everyone around me seems to like it, yet I don't get a single laugh from watching it.

1 pointAbsolutely. There are some real assassins on this Forum who mention folk out of the blue and the next thing they are dead.

1 pointCurrently in Montenegro, was in Kotor, now Podgorica. Too rainy today, sadly, about to take the night train to Belgrade. Hoping to solve a murder case on the train.

1 pointChen Junwu visited this month. Permanently hospitalised, his physical condition is so bad he can't pose for photos (probably hooked up to machines considering how some months ago they visited Wang Xiji who was described as "healthy" despite being very frail, having discolored hands and a nasogastric tube) and apparently unable to talk

1 pointAnd I'm back from my trip to Italy! Spent time with my family, we stayed at the Agritorismo Il Pioppeto alot. Also spent a day at the beach in Gaeta on Tuesday, and seeing Herculeum and Pompeii on Thursday. Spent Saturday all night partying at my cousin's wedding in Foggia.

1 pointHe talks to Steve-O (because why not) about his unusual funeral plans: https://www.dailystar.co.uk/showbiz/us-showbiz/star-treks-william-shatner-reveals-30886621 Apparently, he has a new album coming out.

1 pointSeveral of the BBC TV centre studios had asbestos in the seventies but so did fucking everywhere. One of the studios was particularly stuffed with it and there's a correlation with shows filmed there and premature deaths in the cast and crew eg 70s Dr Who. But there is also the fact that nearly everyone in the BBC back then smoked like a chimney.
