Normally I wouldn’t open up a thread for someone like him, but as I am planning on going on dead pooling hiatus soon and I really don’t want him to be forgotten about in the dead pooling realm, I think this is a good farewell gift. So for those unaware, John Ashton has been battling stage 4 prostate cancer for the past couple of years, and while on paper he doesn’t seem to be doing horribly, he also doesn’t seem to have the miracle treatment that Andy Taylor had with his cancer. And I’m still getting similar vibes with him as I did with Sylvain Sylvain when I picked him in 2020 and foolishly dropped him in 2021 (although admittedly my dead pooling instincts might be a bit rusty given my motivation for it has been all but wiped right now). I definitely think he should be considered for pools, and could even see him as a cool death list pick. I’ll make sure to advocate for him to appear on the list next year assuming he’s not a hit in the next month and a half…

52 days of drought again. Since the last poll, only Bob Barker, Mangosuthu Buthelezi and Giorgio Napolitano have died, before a two-months drought which is still ongoing. With half of them hospitalised, in ICU, in hospice care or even zombified, who will be the next to break the drought?

Amazing how Cameron has emerged from the abyss just a week or two after Dominic Cummings' "fuckpigs, morons & cunts" comment. S'alright Dom, he heard you the first time.

Granted it's Dan Hodges (still blows my mind that he's Glenda Jackson's son) but I'd well believe this is the case

The nation was dominated by the news that Michael Gove had died of an overdose at some kind of Tory party gathering. I was discussing with someone whether Gove’s case was a sad one or not and they slipped in that Jacob Rees-Mogg was dead too (no discussion here about whether it was sad). I didn’t believe them so I looked it up and I vividly remember looking at JRM’s Wikipedia page saying he died on 16th February 2024 (aged 54). I’ve just looked him up on Wiki; the picture was different in my dream but he will indeed be 54 on this date so I’m hanging on to this potentially being a premonition.

I agree, plus his presidency (at least to me) seems like such a small footnote in his career compared to everything he's done since then that people all around the world will remember him for his deeds of goodwill. The UK would do well to have a former statesman like him imo

Former Red Sox knuckleballer Tim Wakefield has been diagnosed with brain cancer, according to Curt Schilling. Apparently Wakefield wanted it kept private, though.

When he goes he will be taking one very big era for American Politics with him. I remember him running around the Middle East when I was a kid. Seems a lifetime ago now.

Saw a while ago on Lazenby's wiki page that John Cleese was keen to cast him as Jesus in The Life of Brian, that would have been one hell of a cameo.

And SUVs which have those extra bright headlights which are also mounted so high up that they blind you even more. I've said it before, but it bears repeating. SUVs are ugly, space consuming, unnecessary and just plain idiotic. Whereas this is pure sex! I think I need a lie down now.....................
