7 pointsSo December 7th has happened and I do have some Pearl Harbor Survivor updates for you. Ike Schab ended up making it to Hawaii after all, as did Freeman Johnson, Herb Elfring and two survivors I weren't aware of, Harry Chandler and Ken Stevens. There were apparently another man expected (not named), but he wasn't feeling well so he missed the ceremony. Lou Conter didn't attend either. https://www.kcra.com/article/survivors-of-pearl-harbor-attack-returning-to-honor-those-who-perished/46063789 There's also 106 year old Bill Monforte, who's most definitely the oldest living survivor. I can also confirm Sterling Cale is still alive. Not counting the anonymous survivor who missed the ceremonies, here are the remaining survivors. Louis Conter (102) Ike Schab (103) Freeman Johnson (103) Bill Monfort (106) Harry Chandler (102) Herb Elfring (101) Ken Stevens (102) Sterling Cale (102)

4 pointsIf there is a name on the list I do not recognise. I do not automatically assume that they do not have a claim to fame. A swift bit of research will tell me their justification (or not) for being on the list

3 pointsAm I the only one getting "Please remove this fucking loony from my office before she stabs me" vibes from Theresa May here?

3 pointsSome names I would strongly consider... Ted Turner: the American media mogul was diagnosed with Lewy body dementia back in September 2018. The usual life expectancy is 5-7 years, so 2024 is right in the sweet spot of that. Alberto Fujimori: former Peruvian president was just released from jail and his health problems are well-documented. Being allowed to die at home in 2024? Eva Marie Saint: the actress would turn 100 on July 4, 2024. Phillippe de Gaulle: especially if Delors or Le Pen kick the bucket, might be appropriate to replace them with a French centenarian on the List. Would turn 102 on December 28. Tim Curry: I don't know what y'all think when you see recent pics of him, but he could be a good pick. Both June Spencer and Glynis Johns make a ton of sense just on age alone, especially Spencer. Katherine Jackson: Jackson Family matriarch is 93 and has been rumored to be in frail health for years now. On my personal top 50 List, I will be including Dikembe Mutombo for sure. I haven't seen many follow-up details after the announcement in October of 2022 that he was undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, and that certainly worries me. If it was a glioblastoma, the chances of him seeing 2025 are remote. Probably not a name big enough for the Committee, though.

3 pointsI interviewed Dennis a couple of times. Can't say it was the best experience, rather tedious in fact. Very shouty. The man loved the sound of his own voice. Also used to go off on the most random tangents ever (in a Grandpa Simpson "I'm going to tell you my entire life story" type way). I think he was quite principled but he certainly wasn't consistent. Years ago he'd moan about older MPs never giving up their seats, saying that it was selfish and hindered younger MPs having a stab at it. "I would never starve a young man of a job. I've always been for the workers" blah blah blah. He was determined he'd be out of there by 70. That didn't happen ofc. He went on and on and on, until the Tories finally knocked him out. His constituents really were fed up of him by 2019. He had become so inactive locally. Skinner ofc isn't alone on this one. Many of these older MPs don't know when it's time to go. The Tory Party recently begged a few of their MPs to stand down at the next election in exchange for seats in the Lords. Quite a few of them well into their 70s have refused.

2 pointsNo appearances and no comments for his 95th birthday? If this is the case there's very few time left.

2 pointsIt should be mentioned that she was in limbo and just became pending by the GRG a couple days ago, so Marina basically lost her title for a couple days and then regained it

Tammy Wynette — Justified And Ancient -6 Think I stopped playing halfway through 97-98. Regret it slightly, but equally this game is exhausting and infuriating in equal measures from time to time. Returning halfway through the Grand Final it looks like? You seem to have done a decent job in the meantime. Let's see what happens.

2 pointsWith Chomsky not commenting on Kissinger's death as far as I can see, I'd say he definitely should be on the list next year (as long as he doesn't cark it pre-New Year, ofc)

2 pointsFuck sake when I saw @Thatcher had posted in the 2023 Names I thought we had another hit

2 pointsFunnily enough, Norman Lear did not vote for Carter in 1980. He actively campaigned for John Anderson, a liberal Republican-turned-independent candidate.
-
2 pointsI posted it here, because I am a newbie and this is the only thread that I have posted in. I am a huge Norman Lear fan, and I was reporting it since it is a breaking news story. I wasn't expecting the insults, I was not trying to be morbid. I tried posting it in the Norman Lear thread, but for some reason it is not connecting.
-
2 pointsCarter is nearing ten months in hospice care now. I was thinking about running a sweepstake of when Jimmy Carter would die at work, but I'm not sure it'll occur before I retire.

2 points"I turn 91 in December and I'm busier than I can ever remember being at any point in my career. And I don't understand it at all. I mean, what's all this stuff about ageism in Hollywood? How did I get left out of it? I don't know, except possibly that everybody else who could play those parts has already died, so I'm the only actress still standing who can play the great-grandmother or something." I think based on this quote from the summer, she is more likely to join DeathList forums than actually appear on the list.
