2 pointsOh aye, and when the picks finally started dying I was down to one more meme I could have used to keep us all amused, so I'll download it now:

2 pointsI have produced a different graph today which is on a slightly different basis There are only four lines on this one so I hope it is easier to read There is the current record holding year 2020 The current year 2024 The average date that each numbered death (Up to 13) has occurred across the past 10 years The line that would deliver us a new record breaking year on a pro-rata basis (One death every 17 days)

2 pointsAlright, let's see how this goes... 42 competitors have signed up, so the first round will consist of 10 match-ups to get down to a full roster of 32. The 20 highest-seeded players (or is that lowest-seeded?) will face off, i.e. those from no. 25 to 45 (with Pop_Zeus sitting out). So the list randomizer of random.org gives me this: Gooseberry Crumble (26) Famous6eva (42) GuyFromFuture (28) Liz Lemon (25) CalebH (29) Bibliogryphon (34) livingbygrace (new - 43) Therewillbedeaths7 (35) Dying Probably (37) max bossetti (new - 44) Wormfarmer (41) Thatcher (new - 45) Yorkshire Banker (27) DeathByArsenic (39) The Immortal (38) justonecornetto (36) GreatUncleBulgaria (40) MortalCaso (33) theoldlady (32) BabyBlue (30) I interpret this as: Gooseberry Crumble vs. Famous6eva GuyFromFuture vs. Liz Lemon CalebH vs. Bibliogryphon livingbygrace vs. Therewillbedeaths7 Dying Probably vs. max bossetti Wormfarmer vs. Thatcher Yorkshire Banker vs. DeathByArsenic The Immortal vs. justonecornetto GreatUncleBulgaria vs. MortalCaso theoldlady vs BabyBlue

1 pointLast Call for Entries! The Nobel Prize Dead Pool 2024/25 will start on Thursday February 1st, 2024. At the moment, we have 15 participants, including myself, who will join the game as last. For everyone who will join the game, please note that you can only choose candidates, who are not already chosen by someone else. @HellTwo of your candidates (Modiano/Literature and Campbell/Medicine) are unfortunately already chosen, please select new candidates. (Orhan Pahmuk and every writer younger than him can be chosen.) Best of luck to all of us!

1 pointMight come back. You never know. I think a year makes the calculations on my end horrendous. Hopefully my internet is up this week. If so, I might get shuffling in the summer!

1 pointJesus, do all US Senators have 5 million word essays on their political beliefs on Wikipedia? You guys should have the best informed voter base in the world if everyone took the time to read that before casting a ballot. I know more about her political positions in one paragraph of that article than I know about my own local MP's views on everything through scraping through his entire social media accounts.

1 pointI'm not really fussed about what happens at mine. I also don't see the need for pallbearers - no point in being handled by muscular young men if I'm not alive to enjoy it.
