In my personal life between 1989-1993 I lost both parents ages 52, 57, an uncle 54, and had 3 friends lose at least 1parent all in their 50;s all due to heart attacks, and strokes. 3 of my 4 grandparents died in the 1960's all in their 50's as well due to cancer, heart attack and aneurism. A certain percentage of people have always died younger than the expected life expectancy and in both of those eras it certainly was not due to new untested vaccines or covid. I am putting a link to an article about how life expectancy is determined because it is apparent that you don't understand how it works. Life expectancy - Wikipedia

I think it’s worth mentioning that the world population has quadrupled since 1900. This increase coupled with the major expansion in types of fame in the last 100 years (television, social media, etc.) means there are a larger number of well-known individuals each generation. Some portion of these are going to die young and some portion of those are going to be well known. Also, as @Toast pointed out social media and the 24 hour news cycle means more attention is paid to these deaths than in years past. Get over your conspiracy theory that more young people are dying which we all know is shield for peddling your ridiculous anti-vax views.

He already said he wouldn't abdicate. But I agree, he's in far worse condition than most of the others, he only just recovered from a prior infection and this is now his 4th or 5th hospitalization within the last 2 years.

Have you got statistical proof of that? There have always been cases of sudden death in the young though. I knew someone who died in their sleep at 31 from an unsuspected heart defect, and have been surprised how many people have had friends die in a similar way, and I'm talking over 20 years ago not recently.. Because of social media we just tend to hear about more of them.

Angel Kerezov, Bulgarian wrestler who won silver in 1964 Olympics, died in 2002 according to the Bulgarian Wrestling Federation Masamitsu Ichiguchi, Japanese wrestler who won gold on 1964 Olympics, is implied to have died on 7 February 2024 by the Japan Wrestling Federation. Correct me if I'm wrong on this one as I have doubts by Google translate.

And there it is. Facebook. A few years ago you wouldn't even have known these people existed. My point perfectly illustrated. Yes, and a large part of that is because of delays. Delays in getting funding, delays in getting tests organised, you name it, a lot of these things spend months if not years sitting on desks with nothing happening. The difference with the Covid vaccines is that everything was fast-tracked and money poured into it because of the urgency.

John Savident sounds like he was just as much of a character as his, well, character. Like this anecdote from Gareth Roberts, a writer who, among many things, once worked on Coronation St:

None of my 19 women got pregnant last year (or indeed this), not helped by the fact that 2 of them turned out to be lesbians. However I caught part of Blankety Blank the other night (there's an admission) and there was the talentless Moffat woman announcing her pregnancy and thereby proving me right, albeit a year too late.

Ryzhkov's still quite active, incumbent Federation Council member, in December he talked about how it'd be great if the Soviet Union was recreated. He's dreamed about it since the 90s. Hated and still hates Gorbachev and wishes Andropov never died (I assume Andropov liked him more than Gorba?). Sanctioned by the US in 2014 too for involvement in the Crimea invasion as a member of the Russian leadership's inner circle. Quite an asshole in many ways

I’ve been on this forum approaching 4 years and I have never had the urge to make a thread. Why do people that first join this forum have an overwhelming desire to create a topic for any fucker that pops in their head? Surely it’s not hard to stop postless newbies from creating new topics.
