3 pointsBob Needs a New Heart 10/50 18th July 2024 American comedian and actor Bob Newhart has died. Newhart’s professional comedy career started in 1960 when he was a guest on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’. Very seen after in 1961 NBC gave him his own variety show of his own, despite the programme only running for 27 episodes it won numerous awards and established Newart as a man who could lead. Throughout the 60s he continued to have guest stops on a number of American variety shows. In 1972 he was given his second eponymous show, which would run for 142 episodes until 1978, ‘The Bob Newhart Show’ was a family/workplace as opposed to his previous work mostly in the variety genre. His third eponymous show simply titled ‘Newhart’, another sitcom, began in 1982 and ran for 184 episodes until 1990. 2 years after that his fourth and final show named after himself began airing, another sitcom CBS’s ‘Bob’ only lasted for 33 episodes and just over a year. In 1997 he starred alongside Judd Hirsh in the short lived sitcom 'George and Leo’. Following the turn of the millennium Newhart’s career slowed down, guest starring in shows like ‘Desperate Housewives' and ‘NCIS’. In 2013 he began playing Professor Proton in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, a role he played for 9 episodes across the show and its spin-off ‘Young Sheldon’. Although mainly known for television throughout the decades Newhart made appearances in a small number of films, such as Disney’s ‘The Rescuers’ & its sequel and 2003’s Christmas classic ‘Elf’. Bob Newhart died earlier today aged 94. He was making his second appearance on the Crowdsourced Deathlist, this year at no. 34

1 pointOldWillz had a slew of his vinyl when I was a boy, that's really how I knew him. I rather liked his eponymous sitcom, was it set in a ski lodge or something? Anyway, RIP to one of the greats.

1 pointForgive me if this has been brought up before, but for some reason the search function isn't allowing me to search her full name but there is a GRO death record for an Elizabeth C. Kelly born in 1921 died Q4 2016 in south Tyneside (Kelly was supposedly born in Newcastle). It's not too far before the date of that last confirmed autograph which could have been written before she died and then not posted til afterwards or delayed.
